Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Glorified be Allāh! Your outward self is adorned with the raiment of righteousness while your inward self submits to vain desires, so wherever your raiments is scented, the impact of vain desires emerge, from which the sincere believers divert themselves, and to which the wrong-doers are inclined.” [al-Fawā’id | Pg. 108]

Allāh explains the nature of many people: they remember Him intensely in hardship, yet become heedless when ease returns. https://www.instagram.com/dawnreminders https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb8NLr0HQbS6x0NLwz29
Evil Eye Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “It is an arrow, shot by the one who is jealous or (or is known) for giving evil-eye towards the one who is envied – hitting (the target) sometimes and missing it sometimes. So if it is encountered while uncovered and without protection, then the person is affected by it. But no doubt, if it is encountered while taking precaution, then it will not affect him; rather it may happen that this arrow (evil-eye) is returned back to the owner himself (i.e. the owner is affected by his own evil-eye).” [Zaad al-Ma`aad | 4/154]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Whoever reflects upon the dunya and hereafter will know that he cannot attain one of them except with difficulty, so let him bare the difficulty for the one that is better and more lasting." [al-Fawā’id | Pg. 37]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "It is not fitting that the slave should let his tawakkul (reliance on Allāh) be in the form of helplessness, nor that he should claim that his helplessness was in fact tawakkul; instead he should make his tawakkul one of the necessary measures, without which one's aim will not be achieved." [Provisions for the Hereafter]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "The strength and weakness of a person is in accordance to the strength of one's closeness (to Allāh). The closer the heart is to its Rabb, the stronger he becomes; and the further he is from Him, the more severe the estrangement between him and his Rabb will be." [Madarīj as-Salikeen]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “Indeed, dhikr of Allāh gives the one performing dhikr strength. To the point that with dhikr, he can do what he thought could not be done.” [al-Jawāb al-Kāfī | 1/77]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: "Do not belittle a small sin, for the biggest of fires can be caused by the smallest of sparks.” [al-Fawā'id | 3/227]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “The heart, in its journey to Allāh, Majestic is He, is like that of a bird: love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings. When the head and two wings are sound, the bird flies gracefully. If the head is severed, the bird dies… if the bird loses one of its wings, it then becomes a target for every hunter or predator.” [Madarīj as-Salikeen | 1/390]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Giving al-ṣadaqah (ie: charity on Fridays) has a distinct advantage over the rest of the weekdays. Its superiority is similar to giving charity in the month of Ramaḍān in contrast to the rest of the months.” [Zād al-Maʿād | 1/394]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “The greenery and verdure of this world is like a tree. The rapid manner in which the world vanishes away bit by bit is like the shade. And the slave is a traveler heading toward the meeting with his Lord. When the traveler sees a tree on a hot day, he does not deem it appropriate to build a home under the tree or take it as a permanent residence; rather he shades himself according to his need. If he exceeds this, he is cut off from his companions.” [The Dunya & Its Reality | Pg. 18]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “The land of nature is wide and accepts whatever is going to be planted in it. If you plant a tree of faith and piety, it will give the sweetness of the Hereafter and if you plant a tree of ignorance and desire, it will give bitter fruit.” [al-Fawā’id | Pg. 60]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “How many a reward has come racing toward you… But then stopped at the door; for the doors responding back were: "I will" "Perhaps" and "Maybe" (do good deeds). [Kitaab Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 63]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: "Be pleased with everything that Allāh does with you. For indeed He does not prevent you except to give you. He does not test you except to protect and save you. He does not give you ill health except to cure you. He does not give you death except to give life to you. So beware of not being pleased with Him even for the blink of an eye. Such that you fall in His eye." [Madārij as-Sālikīn | 2/208]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Truly, a person who favours a current pleasure, whose effect will disturb his life and Hereafter, must be a person with no sense of sensibility. For how can a person favour such pleasures that are as temporary as a dream and as short as a moment that a person spends with a good character visiting him in a dream, over an everlasting pleasure that is among the ultimate pleasures! How could a person sell all that for such mortal lowly pleasures that come with pain and are also achieved with pain and whose result is nothing but pain!” [Heartfelt Advice to a Friend | Pg. 37]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “He values the watchfulness of other members of the creation with his entire heart and every limb. He shies away from the people but does not shy away from Allāh.” [The Disease & The Cure | Pg. 259]
