Thoughts on The Odyssey: Despite its long runtime, the movie manages to feel surprisingly quick thanks to nonstop, fast pace entertainment. The acting is competent and consistent but unremarkable, Tom Holland was a surprising stand out for me. Many of the set pieces were phenomenal, and while the cinematography features occasional highlights, too many dark action sequences suffer from poor visibility that made it difficult to track what was happening. Regarding the DEI cast, I did my best to look past it but having blacks, Indians, and transsexuals running around Ancient Greece destroyed my suspension of disbelief on several occasions. It didn’t completely ruin the movie for me, but it was definitely noticeable. So while it’s far from the masterpiece some are claiming, if you can overlook some of those bizarre creative choices, it ultimately delivers an above average, entertaining popcorn flick. 7/10
