It’s interesting how by the 19th century the spiritual emptiness of Anglicanism drove the Anglo-Saxon to one of 3 destinies. He either imported a culture that wasn’t his own through orientalism in order to seek meaning (Eastern orthodoxy, buddhism, hinduism, and early New Age). He delved further into rationalism and skepticism to the point of abandoning God (atheism). Or, he embraced the soul of our people, and opened the ancestral chambers of his heart to reclaim his Catholicism.
