  • "It is as true to say that Sri Anandmayi Ma had no message to give to the world, as that she spoke on every topic which is of interest to human beings. She spoke tirelessly, for countless hours, discussing, answering questions, discoursing upon themes raised by scholars or simple people; the refrain of her talks, however, became clear as years went by. She repeated a pithy statement again and again, anywhere and everywhere, 'To talk of God alone is worthwhile, All else is, verily, in vain and pain!' Once, a successful man of the world posed the question, 'What harm is there if we are happy in our way of life? If we are satisfied as we are?' Sri Anandmayi Ma - I am not saying there is any harm, if you can remain happy in the world. If one can remain immersed in it then it is all to the good. But actually, no one can do that. If anyone tries to immerse himself in worldly pleasures, they begin to choke him. As for example, you put on clothes and go out on a pleasure trip; as soon as you return home, you want to take off all the restrictive items of dress and wish to relax in your everyday simple garments. It is man's nature to seek freedom. This is why even if a man busies himself in the world, he seeks relief from it after a while. The coercion chafes him. Everyone seeks peace and happiness because man is of the nature of bliss. There is the possibility of eternal bliss in him, that is why he becomes impatient with worldly ties. Creaturehood means limitations; when he gains freedom from all limitations, he becomes established in supreme bliss. 'Pitaji', how much pleasure can this world contain? If you get even a taste of the happiness in that dimension, then you will not care for any pleasures of this world. This is the absolute truth. Keeping company with 'sadhus', attending 'satsangs', reading of elevating books, etc., brings about an interest in that other world. It is not necessary to eschew anything (any pleasures of this world). Only try to establish contact and hold on the other dimension. Whatever is redundant will fall off of its own accord. • I have no need of doing or saying anything; there never was any need, neither is there now, nor will there ever be in the future. What you found manifested in me in the past, what you see now and what will be observed in the future is only for the good of you all. If you think that there is something peculiarly my own, I must tell you that the whole world is my own. ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma For more such amazing posts of Ma, follow the WhatsApp channel of Sri Anandamayi Ma: http://bit.ly/srima_wachannel

  • Question - Ma, What do you consider to be the most essential thing in life? Sri Anandamayi Ma - To try to find out “Who am I?” – the search after God. But first of all, one must conceive the desire to know oneself. When one finds one’s own Self, one has found God; and finding God, one has found one’s own Self — the One Atman. • Question - Ma, Who is under the influence of Maya? Sri Anandamayi Ma - He who asks the question. Question - Ma, Who is it that asks the question? Sri Anandamayi Ma - The person who lacks knowledge of reality; the individual (jiva) whose vision is obscured by a curtain asks the question. The curtain is oneself, the questioner oneself, the questioner playing with oneself—one's own pleasure. One cannot acknowledge the existence of God and also of the person who lacks knowledge, the two cannot exist together. "Ekam Brahman, Dvitiya Nasti" – where there is only one Brahman and no second, who is the curtain? In essence, you are that which is beyond Maya, but today you believe yourself bound by Maya, and it is this belief that constitutes the curtain. Try to realize your true Being. Only then will you be beyond Maya. Wherever a jiva is, there is Siva, and wherever a woman, there is Gauri. Solely the Atma everywhere! So long as the curtain is not lifted, questions will not cease to arise. Maya – The Supreme Divine Power by which the One conceals Itself and appears as the many. • Question - Ma, What is the special contribution a woman has to make as apart from a man? Sri Anandamayi Ma - A woman is essentially a mother, and consequently, her duty is to serve everyone. Further, since she is daughter, wife, and mother all in one, she must recognize the oneness of the three. Besides, in every woman is contained a man, and in every man a woman. If man were not contained within you, you would not be able to recognize a man; and if woman were not contained in a man, he would be unable to recognize a woman. Thus, one of the most important tasks of a woman is to discover the man in herself. Question - Ma, What then is the special contribution a man can give? Sri Anandamayi Ma - Man is the reflection of the Supreme Purusha, the one who upholds the universe. True manliness means divinity. But then, there is Atma, which is beyond man and woman. Everyone has to find that Atma that lies hidden within himself. It is the task of every human being to unfold both the man and woman potentially contained within him or herself and to realize the Atma, which is beyond man and woman. • God, Himself appears as the Guru. He has to be invoked with full faith. Just as a Vigraha is not a stone so also the Guru is not a human being. Can a human being ever be a Guru? Guru is Jagad Guru. He is one who diverts man from the path of mortality to Immortality. Once the Guru has accepted a disciple he will never leave him until God-Experience has been achieved. The question of leaving does not arise. The Guru resides within, so long as the inner Guru has not been revealed nothing can be achieved. If one calls him Guru it has nothing to do with the body that is transitory. ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma For more such amazing posts of Ma, follow the WhatsApp channel of Sri Anandamayi Ma: http://bit.ly/srima_wachannel

  • If you see anything like Kripa manifested in This Body, you should know that that also is being manifested by itself. Just as if you go near fire, you will automatically feel the heat, similarly, if you find anything like Kripa etc. manifested in This Body - it is also like that! Otherwise there is absolutely nothing in This Person like the deliberation such as 'I shall do Kripa'. There is absolutely no conflict of desire and aversion ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma For more such amazing posts of Ma, follow the WhatsApp channel of Sri Anandamayi Ma: http://bit.ly/srima_wachannel

  • "There are instances of Self-realization occurring by the Grace of God, whereas at other times it can be seen that He awakens in some a feverish yearning after Truth. In the first case attainment comes spontaneously, in the second it is brought about by trials. But all is wrought solely by His Mercy. Man thinks he is the doer of his actions, while actually everything is managed from 'There'; the connection is 'There', as well as the power-house - yet people say 'I do.' How wonderful it is! When in spite of all efforts one fails to catch a train, does this not make it clear from where all one's movements are being directed? Whatever is to happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time, is all fixed by Him; His arrangements are perfect." ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma ("Words Of Sri Anandamayi Ma' Translated and Compiled by Atmananda, pages 11 - 12) https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DCsfoUU7x/

  • Whatever you do, do it well with all your might. The more wholehearted and surrendering are your efforts, the more the divine power will take over, fixing mistakes and making the impossible happen in front of your eyes. The threshold to perfection lies in the heart. By following instructions with an open heart, one can experience and gradually recognize perfection. To carry out scrupulously the Guru's instructions is the greatest service of all. ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma For more such amazing posts of Ma, follow the WhatsApp channel of Sri Anandamayi Ma: http://bit.ly/srima_wachannel

  • The sense of want, does it not arise because the desired object is not obtained? When one's desire remains unfulfilled, fruitless, to continue craving for the same thing and be disappointed time and again, surely it is futile. So long as there is desire, the experience of want and sorrow is – from the worldly point of view – but natural. Whatever you may desire that is of this ever-changing world will bring you sorrow, even though momentary happiness may be had at times. To seek Reality in which no sorrow is found, is man's sole duty. ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma For more such amazing posts of Ma, follow the WhatsApp channel of Sri Anandamayi Ma: http://bit.ly/srima_wachannel
