Sri Aurobindo, a freedom fighter turned mystic and a God-realised Sage—on the eve of India’s Independence, 14 August 1947, remarked that India had achieved Independence, *but not Unity*. He strongly emphasised the need for Hindu-Muslim unity and warned of the dangers including the threat from China that continued disunity could pose to India’s future. Did we heed his advice? No. And what has been the consequence? Pakistan, which was once an integral part of India, is today under deep Chinese influence and facing serious internal challenges. Nearly 80 years later, the question we should honestly ask ourselves is: *Are we, as Indians, doing enough to build the unity that Sri Aurobindo envisioned?* Chest-thumping is easy and immature. Striving for unity is much harder—and far wiser. Happy Birthday, Sri Sri Aurobindo! 🙏🇮🇳 ============================= 👆 Unity is what India and the world need today.
