*Signs of the Heavens and Signs of the Earth* يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ *“He manages and regulates (every) affair from the heavens to the earth.”* [Al‑Sajdah 32: 5] The Eclipse (Kusuf كسوف) is a sign of Allah’s Rububiyyah: a celestial disruption that confronts the believer with the Lord who governs the heavens with flawless precision. For this reason, Salah al‑Kusuf is recommended and emphasised by the Ummah. It is an act of humility before the One who alters the order of creation whenever He wills. In contrast, Al‑Khilafah (الخلافة) is a sign of Allah’s Uluhiyyah: the exclusive right of Allah to be obeyed, followed, and submitted to. The Khilafah is not a cosmic event that descends from above; it is an Islamic obligation that must be raised from below. Its establishment is obligatory, yet it remains neglected by the Ummah despite its centrality in the mission of the Prophet ﷺ. The eclipse confronts us with the majesty of Rububiyyah; the Khilafah confronts us with the weight of Uluhiyyah.One sign appears in the sky and we rush to pray.The other must be built on earth and yet we delay. If the Ummah responds eagerly to the signs of Rububiyyah, it must respond even more urgently to the signs of Uluhiyyah. Rububiyyah establishes who Allah سبحانه وتعالى is in His absolute Lordship; Uluhiyyah establishes who we must be in our exclusive servitude, obedience and collective submission to Him.
