#study 🎓Today, when I look back, I see that my first academic year at UoB was not as easy as I thought. I made many mistakes—wasting time, struggling with academic English, and sometimes letting my ego control me. But those mistakes gave me lessons. Now it’s time to take serious steps for the next academic year and prepare myself for a stressful curriculum. Preparation is not only about buying new equipment or making a study plan—it’s about building the right mindset and discipline. If you plan to study abroad or even in Uzbekistan (where many students are fighting to keep their scholarships), here are some tips I learned and now try to follow: 1️⃣ Know what you want this year Having clear goals gives you direction and keeps you motivated. A Harvard study found that students with written goals were far more likely to succeed than those without. Motivation is not just hype—it’s the force that keeps you moving when things get hard. If you know what you want, you will always find energy to move. 2️⃣ Change your habits Your time depends on how you live. If your daily habit is playing games or scrolling endlessly, it’s not just wasting time—it’s zero progress. Research in Psychological Science shows that almost 40% of what we do every day is driven by habits. The good news: if you change habits to productive ones, your results also change—from negative to positive. 3️⃣Start your academic year early Don’t wait for the semester to begin. Start now. Studies from the University of California show that students who begin learning earlier remember more and perform better than last-minute crammers. One hour today is equal to one hour the night before an exam. Use your free time now to push yourself and build momentum before classes start. 🔠 @OlimjonUktamovn

🎓 Olimjon Uktamov | Oxford Team 📍 From: Jizzakh – where ambition grows even faster than Wi-Fi 📶 📚 Student life: Law student at the University of Birmingham (UK) – ranked 76th in the QS World University Rankings 2025. Completed Foundation Year with distinction. And yes — my biggest academic dream is to study at Oxford one day. 🎯 🚀 What I do when I’m not saving the world: Helped 45+ students get into international universities with over $10M in scholarships (yep, still humble 😌). Former President of the Presidential School – led major student unions, built school networks, and organized big initiatives. Achieved success in sports – gym, swimming, and always pushing physical limits. Discipline is a lifestyle. 💪 Founded Birlik – a self-growth movement for youth serious about becoming better in study, health, and mindset. Still running a consulting team — because success hits different when shared. 🏋️ Daily routine includes: Waking up before sunrise (5 AM club ☀️). Gym, swimming, focused study blocks, strategic planning, and mentoring others. Teaching my younger brother every evening — because leadership starts at home. 🧠 Fun Fact: I’m the kind of person who makes Google feel uneducated. Also… if I ever go missing, check the nearest library or protein aisle. And yes, I do play CS like a future litigator — calm, sharp, and slightly terrifying. 🎮⚖️ 🌱 Why I do it: Because I believe being average is a choice. I’m here to grow in every way — mind, body, ambition, and impact. Life’s too short to be ordinary. 🔥 Oxford is not just a name. It’s a mindset. One Team. One Dream. One Family. #GoOxford 🟥👑
Things I wish I could tell Uzbek adults... 1. Disagreement Is Not Disrespect When I have a different opinion with adults, they usually take it personal and judge me harshly for that. However, counterargument does not equate to disrespect. Just because you have small information on what you are talking about, you do not have to make me feel small. Instead prove me your point with credible evidence or logical point. 2. Respect Is Earned, Not Demanded Respect should be mutual. Respect cannot be sustained by age alone. 3. Listening Is a Thing Far too often, I’m interrupted mid-sentence, or my thoughts are dismissed before I finish speaking. Even if you think you understand what I’m trying to say, allowing me to finish shows respect and maturity. The willingness to truly listen is one of the clearest signs of respect. 4. Having boundaries is not Arrogance Being older does not grant anyone the right to overstep personal boundaries. It is not acceptable to judge, compare, or comment on someone’s body, personal life, or choices simply due to age or status. Setting boundaries is a sign of self-respect, not arrogance. As I reflect more deeply, I realize that age does not always bring intelligence. Many adults grow in body, family roles, and responsibilities, but not in mindset, intelligence, or wisdom.
