A National Iranian Tanker Company VLCC supertanker is seen today (2026-08-14) loading 2 million barrels of crude at the Azarpad jetty on Kharg Island, Iran. Although this is the first loading sighted at the island since the end of July, Iran has continued loading tankers at other terminals. That said, Iran’s oil production appears to be roughly in line with the country’s refinery runs (domestic consumption), meaning it may not need to export much. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers

EXCLUSIVE: The 28-year-old Suezmax tanker CARUZO (IMO 9137648), which is under UK, EU, New Zealand, Canadian, Swiss, and Australian sanctions (but not US sanctions), sailed past us in Istanbul carrying one million barrels of Russian crude oil. The first thing we noticed was that the crew had covered the superstructure with netting and boxed themselves in, apparently out of fear of Ukrainian drone strikes. The aft half of the vessel also appears to have additional protection in the form of cages dangling off the sides, intended to guard the engine room against attacks by sea drones. The fear is real. #OOTT #UkraineWar #Tankers
A fleet of at least 56 visually identified tankers is currently operating in digital darkness to support oil exports from Arab nations neighboring Iran. These vessels transit the Strait of Hormuz to conduct covert ship-to-ship (STS) transfers in the Gulf of Oman; helping ensure that you can still afford to enjoy your summer holiday, even if it is only a day trip. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Busy day in the Gulf of Oman. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
On the behest of US security concerns, the ESA (European Space Agency) imposed a 24-hour publication delay on Copernicus Sentinel (1 & 2) satellite imagery covering the US Navy blockade line crossing the eastern edge of the Gulf of Oman. Meanwhile, the Iranians have access to day-fresh hi-res imagery taken by the Russians.
Since the start of this conflict, there have been at least 100 STS (Ship-to-Ship) transfers of oil involving VLCC supertankers; each capable of handling two million barrels of crude oil. Our job has been to identify these vessels and their cargo origins; be it Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi, UAE, etc. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
#Venezuela has exported roughly 200 million barrels of crude oil and refined products to about two dozen markets since the capture of Nicolás Maduro on 2026‑01‑03. That is a 19% increase over the same period in 2025. The current volume is worth around $14–15 billion. #OOTT #Tankers
A VLCC laden with 2 million barrels of Iranian crude oil is desperately trying to reach the blockade line ahead of the 20:00 UTC deadline tonight. They usually steam at around 10kn speed. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
The US Navy Blockade shall be reinstated on 2026-07-14 at 20:00 UTC. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
It has only been twenty-six days since the United States and Iran electronically signed the sixty-day Islamabad Memorandum. During that time (and even in the days leading up to it), more than 80 million barrels of Iranian crude oil and refined products (currently worth >$6 billion) have been shipped out of the region. Now that the US Navy blockade is being reinstated more than a month ahead of schedule, it appears that around 30 million barrels of Iranian crude oil have yet to depart. However, there are also more than 60 million barrels of floating storage capacity available within the blockade perimeter should Iran be forced to scale back its oil production. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Anticipating a possible imminent resumption of the US Navy blockade, Tehran shipped out no less than 10 million barrels of crude oil and fuel oil overnight. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Iran managed to ship out 60 million barrels of crude oil since the US Navy blockade paused in mid-June 2026. If the blockade were to resume now due to escalating tensions, Iran would be stuck with ~50 million barrels of crude oil and refined products. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Crude oil exports out of Kuwait and southern Iraq may be moving like molasses but are no longer at zero. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Iran has exported 50 million barrels of crude oil since the US-imposed blockade was lifted two weeks ago. This equates to 1.66 million barrels per day for June 2026. Most other countries in the region are still nowhere near pre-war levels. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Iran has exported 40 million barrels of crude oil since 2026-06-15. Exactly half of that amount shipped out in a single day; which was last Friday (2026-06-19). #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Iran has exported 36 million barrels of crude oil since 2026-06-15. There is roughly an equal amount still afloat in Iran. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
Iran has exported nearly 18 million barrels (or $1.44 billion) of crude oil over the past five days. #OOTT #IranWar #Tankers
