Your true character is revealed not in how you act when life is easy, but in your initial, instinctive reaction to whatever life throws at you, be it anger, sorrow, joy, loss, jealousy, or success. Adab is not a performance. It isn’t about being kind when others are kind or being calm when things are going your way. True adab, and akhlaq are measured by your very first response to pain, to hardship, to insult, to disappointment. And if that immediate reaction displeases you, then that is where the work begins. That is what needs to be refined. When Prophet Yaʿqub عليه السلام was told of the "death" of his beloved son Yusuf عليه السلام, how did he respond? When Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام was thrown into the fire, or when Ismaʿil عليه السلام was told by his father that he was to be sacrificed how did they respond? When the Prophet ﷺ buried his infant son, what were his words? His eyes wept, but his heart remained content with the decree of Allah. How did Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام react when the man forgot to mention him to the king, or when he was slandered and imprisoned unjustly? And what was the response of our mother ʿA’ishah رضي الله عنها when she was falsely accused and slandered? These stories show us: it is not niceties or polite mannerisms that only we must focus on but that very first, raw, unfiltered reaction. Because that is where true character lives. And across the lives of the Prophets peace be upon them all we find not just beautiful outcomes, but beautiful first responses.

As Ramadan gets closer, most of us will come across posts on social media and elsewhere talking about the virtues of the month and the different Ibadaat one can engage in. However, one aspect - despite its importance - that isn't discussed as much is the Fiqhi (Jurisprudential) rulings related to this month. For a person's worship to be accepted, he must do it in accordance to Allah's commands, ensuring that all of the obligations in it are adhered to and whatever has been forbidden or may lead to the Ibadah being invalidated (i.e. rejected, has to be re-done) is avoided. And this is obviously important - since an ignorant person may engage in numerous Ibadaat, for which he ultimately not be fully rewarded for if he has not taken care to ensure that he has performed them all in the correct manner. This treatise, prepared with the intention of addressing that issue, takes the reader through the Fiqh of this month completely; starting with Sawm (Fasting), going through Taraweeh, Zakat-uFitr and I'tikaaf, and ending with Eid- all while maintaining a concise, clear and easy style so that anyone- even someone with no Islamic studies background- can understand. English version: https://t.me/a6umuhammad/356 Arabic version: https://t.me/a6umuhammad/333

  • No one- regardless of how strongly inclined they are to something wrong (and regardless of how much of that inclination is rooted in factors out of their control) can claim that the decision to further engage with it, or reinforce those desires was out of their control. That is usually a pre-event or post-event justification that a person gives (or internalises- if the person he trying to reassure is himself) when he himself is aware that he consciously decided to engage in xyz. The correct perspective when it comes to proactively dealing with such issues is to see the relatively stronger inclination as a test from Allah, to appreciate that your self-reflection here is a blessing from Him, and to understand that your work here on is to aim to rectify your own state, not to expend energy in finger-pointing and engaging in self-destructive activities. If it was justifiable for one to do wrong on the basis that he was raised wrong or that his environment instilled in him a particular characteristic, then no one can ever be blamed for their actions (since every bad characterestic or trait is- to an extent- caused by an uncontrollable external effect) - least of all the kuffar who were raised amongst kuffar, spoonfed kufr, and surrounded by kufr. But we know that the kuffar (who pass puberty) will be thrown in Jahannam if they don't repent (and this obviously would be considered extremely unjust under the modern secular framework of understanding human behaviour). And this is because in the Islamic conceptualisation of the world and human nature, there is more emphasis (at the level of the individual) on a person's obligations and willpower, and there is (so far as it concerns his own situation) less focus on his past environment or hypothetical "what-if" situations.

  • Regarding the effects of one’s upbringing, self responsibility, and accountability. It is very important that when speaking about the mistakes that parents might make when raising children, and their (i.e,. those mistakes) potential impacts on those they are raising -- that we also know to direct our focus, and the listener's focus, to the personal responsibility that each one of us has. For just as the parents are responsible for doing the best they can in raising their child to please Allah the Exalted and to fulfill the trust (amanah) given to them, so too does this child, upon reaching the age of puberty (bulugh), become responsible for the choices he makes, for the words he utters, the actions he undertakes, and the perspectives and ideas he holds. He must work on the purification of his own soul (tazkiyat al-nafs) regardless of the experiences he has been through. He should understand any negative affect from his childhood as part of the trials and decrees of Allah that he does not have the power to choose or change, but rather must work with. He treats them as challenges he must overcome in accordance with what pleases his Lord - not as permanent deficiencies that force him to behave in a particular way . The mistake of the parents does not justify that you—as a son or daughter, having surpassed the age of puberty, and then perhaps having married and started your own family or are about to do so—continue to passively claim to be affected by your experiences, behave in a reactionary and wrong manner, and then claim that this is because of them and a result of their upbringing! Rather, you make your own choices, and you alone will be held accountable for your actions. You can never say to your Lord- on the Day He questions you that your faults and sins were because of any other person. Rather, remember that you will go to your Lord on the Day of Resurrection alone to be asked about yourself. Remember that the negative impacts of one’s upbringing are not something that becomes a persistent feature within them, nor does it force them to follow a specific path. The evidence for this is that you find two sons raised in the very same environment, yet one of them becomes a scholar, and the other becomes astray or an atheist. That is only because one of them chose to purify his soul, understand his experience and its impacts, and learn from them, while the other chose to remain its victim and make it a scapegoat for his mistakes and his laziness in seeking change, knowledge, and action! So seek help from Allah, get up, work, and strive, regardless of your current state. Leave aside the mistakes of your parents (which, if they repent from them, will be forgiven while you needlessly remain in your state of victimhood). Be merciful on your parents for their weakness and shortcomings, make dua for them, and strive to be good to them today as part of what is incumbent upon you. Do not spend your time and expend your energy talking about the difficulties of your life and what you have been through, blaming Qadr (fate) and portraying yourself as a powerless victim. Instead, draw (the correct) lessons from those experiences, and use it for your own self-development, your self-rectification, and for building your wisdom. And know, may Allah give you correct understanding, that a perfect upbringing is a very rare matter; we can only aim to strive towards a portion of it. Ustadha Tasneem Raajih (Translated) https://t.me/TassneemRajehChannel/1351 ----------------------------------------- It is also essential to understand that- while a person’s outlook and behaviour may be negatively influenced by the environment he was raised in- that there is still an element within his self that has ultimate control over his perceptions and actions. And this is the part that will be held responsible for its decisions on the Day of Judgement.

  • A Message to the Hasty: Do Not Dress Someone in a Cloak They Refuse to Wear! By: Shaykh Adham Sharqawi Regimes act based on interests, not creed! When Erdoğan's popularity rose, some of you portrayed him as if he were a Caliph, and any criticism of him was treated as if it were criticism of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab! Yet, this man never once claimed to be a Caliph! In the past, present, and future—Erdoğan will always make alliances and enmities purely based on his regime’s interests. His public statements are just rhetoric! When his regime’s interests demanded intervention in Libya by sea with troops, he did it! When those interests called for involvement in Syria, he played a major role in shifting the balance! And when those interests required him to merely watch Gaza being slaughtered, he sat and watched—like everyone else—even though Palestine is geographically and religiously closer to him than Libya! Palestine is a matter of faith and creed, while Libya is one of economics and regime interests. It’s as simple as this: in politics, religion is just another tool of interest! The same applies to Iran! Iran never told anyone it was bombing Tel Aviv for Gaza’s sake. You were the ones saying that—and anyone who disagreed with you was declared a traitor! Gaza has been massacred for 650 days, yet Iran only bombed twice, and only in response to attacks on itself! Iran is a regional power. It employs others, it doesn’t work for anyone! When its regime’s interests required, and to maintain its influence, it killed in Syria and scorched the earth. When it benefited them to support a cause, they supported it! Iran will support a Sunni if it sees benefit in doing so, and it will abandon a Shiite if doing so suits its regime’s interests! Politics has no sect. Politics does not view religion as anything more than a pawn to move the masses! Every regime in the world operates this way—even Israel has no religion in practice, and it may sacrifice Jews themselves for its survival! Iran fought for less than two weeks, and only for its existence and interests, then stopped for those same reasons! They didn’t even set a single condition related to Gaza—so how can you insist they were fighting for Gaza? Political alliances are understandable. Even jinn may ally with humans, and the good with the evil! Mutual interests can unite those you’d never imagine standing together! Only fools treat political alliances as matters of faith and religion, tying them to their own beliefs and forcing them upon others, then judging people as if this were a matter of al-Wala’ wal-Bara’ (loyalty and disavowal)! To the point that Palestine becomes like a deity, worshipped besides Allah— “Support me in Palestine, and do whatever you want to the rest of the Muslims!” It’s as if Palestine is a washing station—with soap and hot water—no matter how dirty you are outside, you can come and clean your hands there! Sometimes, turning away is understandable. May Allah help the weak in the game of the strong. But defending evil—that is unacceptable! Whoever deals with you based on interests, deal with them in kind. Whoever forms political alliances with you, ally with them likewise. But remember: interests and politics have never been, and will never be, a religion! ✍ Adham Sharqawi

  • If you see how the media and the kuffar politicians have suddenly "turned" against Israel, now "condemning" their genocide, then know that this is just history repeating itself and don't be deceived by those that portray this as a "media victory for Muslims" or sign of imminent defeat for Israel

In the 1990s, Abdelwahab El Messiri hosted the mujahid president Alija Izetbegović and organized a seminar for him at the Journalists Syndicate in Cairo, during which Izetbegović delivered this brilliant speech: "The West was waiting for the genocide in Bosnia, ready to set up tents where mourning and lamentation would abound!" This statement is truly a treasure trove of knowledge and a summary of deep and extensive experience with the West, and its political and media philosophy. It succinctly encapsulates the Western approach to dealing with events. The Westerner achieves his goal with all possible ruthlessness, with appalling moral bankruptcy, and without any sense of guilt... Once the goal is achieved, historians can later speak of the terrible massacres committed by their ancestors. Western media can produce fantastic, professional, and truthful reports on the number of victims destroyed by their policies. Channels can flood you with a stream of dignified documentaries and host survivors of the massacre, crying with them, and shading them with the finest cinematic music. Take Israel, for example... a complete Western and British crime... Now look at memoirs, historians, and the BBC and Guardian archives... You will gather information about the catastrophe and the British role in displacing Palestine that you may not find in Arab sources! The catastrophe was successfully executed... Let's erect the tent to mourn and lament together. While this same BBC and the same Guardian now... now... now, at the moment of Gaza's annihilation, will show you another face... Yesterday, a BBC correspondent who expressed sympathy for Gaza was fired after liking two tweets! And so on... Endless news about the rape of Israeli women on October 7th, about children's heads being severed, about mothers being burned with their children... Yes, all of this was published in the media that taught the world the meaning of professionalism, objectivity, thoroughness, verification standards, and auditing... All of this evaporated! Global channels ignored broadcasting the prosecution session at the International Court of Justice where South African representatives spoke about Israeli crimes... The next day, suddenly, they all woke up to broadcast the defense session where the Israeli delegation defends Israel! If I could swear by the unseen, I would swear by Allah that if this Gaza war passes and ends as they wish, I would see these same newspapers and channels come out with wonderfully written reports, documentaries, and films about Israel's crimes in Gaza. And this policy, the policy of mourning and lamenting in the mourning tents after slaughtering and killing the dead, is what entices the ignorant, naive fools who admire the West and consider it a beacon of civilization and freedom of speech, and think that it holds itself accountable, reviews its history, and corrects its course!! May Allah bless Izetbegović ... Indeed, it is a word in the heart of truth! Mohammed Ilhami

  • I am currently in communication with the administration of the "Jahid bi Malik" Program established by Shaykh az-Zubair al-Ghazi, which we are also promoting in Indonesia as the Largest Humanitarian Aid Campaign for the People of Gaza. They have confirmed that Shaykh az-Zubair al-Ghazi, the general coordinator, has just been arrested by the new Syrian regime (al-Jawlani). He had previously been arrested as well, but was released after many scholars and mujahideen from various parts of the world, especially due to demands from scholars, figures, and mujahideen from Gaza, called for his release. In shaa Allah, despite his arrest, the humanitarian aid campaign for the people of Gaza through his channel is still ongoing and remains active. May he be released again soon, as happened before. He is the founder of the Qur'an school in Idlib which recently graduated thousands of Qur'an memorizers, the founder of the largest humanitarian aid program for the people of Gaza, a pioneer of da'wah movements in Syria, a mujahid, mufti, shar'i, and teacher in various places, as well as a verifier of jihad-related books, a Salafi scholar, and a jurist of the Shafi‘i school of thought.

If mercy and Paradise were to be hoped for by everyone regardless, then monotheism (Tawheed) would lose all its value. Then there would be no need to have sent all the messengers, whose central message was: ‘Worship none but Allah’, nor would there be any purpose for the revelation of the divine scriptures… There would be no need for the Islamic conquests that were undertaken to spread this religion… And there would be no reason to read Surah Al-Ma’idah, Aal ‘Imran, or the closing verses of Surah Maryam: "And they say, 'The Most Merciful has taken a son.' (88) You have done an atrocious thing. (89) The heavens almost rupture because of it, and the earth splits apart, and the mountains collapse in devastation (90) That they attribute a son to the Most Merciful." Nor would there be any reason for us to strive, to sacrifice, or to bear the hostility of those who oppose us for the sake of our religion… And Allah alone is the One whose help is sought.

  • What deeply moved me in Sister Ibtihal’s words about her decision to stand up to Microsoft and risk her career was her mention of a constant comparison taking place in her heart… between two fears: The fear of losing dunyawi benefits (such as her job, her U.S. visa, her position, her prestige) and the fear of standing before Allah, the Almighty, having remained silent about the truth and knowingly continued working for a company that contributes to the killing of her fellow Muslims. She said that her fear for worldly loss weighed nothing in comparison to that fear of standing before her Lord. And that through Dhikr and Dua', she was able to build up the courage and boldness to risk her her dunyawi status—just to speak a word that would expose the criminals, even if only symbolically. May Allah reward her—how desperately we need to revive this kind of moral evaluation every day and in every decision, especially when our personal interests are at stake and our individual losses appear significant. What is it that you fear losing in this world? What are you afraid to be deprived of? And what is worth of that (which you covet or hold onto) compared to the gravity of having to stand before your Lord on the Day of Judgment? The entire world will eventually pass—giving and withholding will come and go. People, no matter how powerful they seem, can only deprive you of a part of this worldly life (and even that, is only if Allah wills for that to happen and this means He did not write it in your Rizq anyway). Whatever they do is insignificant—at most, they may cause minor harm. And it is minor- regardless of how it appears to you. But then what? What are you getting in return? You are heading toward something that is truly worth the sacrifice, the striving, and the effort. You are giving up something little in return for something great. Remember that moment (when you are standing before Allah, the Almighty)—remember it when you fall short, when you feel cowardly, when you hold back from speaking the truth, or from standing with the oppressed, or from offering sincere advice (with wisdom and goodness), out of fear for your position, your “prestige,” or people’s criticism or harm. Some will say that this kind of risk or sacrifice is irrational or unwise. These same people would likely consider the strength and courage of Pharaoh’s magicians when they said: {“We will never prefer you over what has come to us of clear signs and to Him who created us. So decree whatever you will. You only decree for this worldly life.”} to be an "act of recklesness" Yet that was the peak of wisdom and strength. These same people would have seen Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) smashing of the idols as “self-destructive,” since it led to his people building a structure to throw him into the fire… But the equation (i.e. the considerations that we take into account when making these decisions) is far greater than this world and its small losses. Every one of us has a duty to do our part, to stand for what is right in whatever capacity we can, and to give—regardless of whether the result is certain, near, or far—so long as we strive sincerely to please Allah and take the means to do what is best. (Note: I will not engage in any other discussion regarding the sister. May Allah reward her for her stance, keep her firm, and accept it from her. May He make it, and its impact, a source of goodness for her and for the ummah, and place it in the scale of her good deeds.) Ustadha Tasneem Rajih https://t.me/TassneemRajehChannel/1851

  • Highly recommend. It develops your comprehension and deductive skills and your ability to correctly draw lessons from the stories in the Quran and in the Seerah. The shaykh's lectures are extremely beneficial, and the participating students are also very intelligent, Ma sha Allah. A prerequisite, however, is knowing Arabic to a decent level since you are required to read, listen, and write in it. Actively participate, and you'll see a difference in yourself in sha Allah.
