Some of the world's wealthiest people; kings and queens, lived long ago. Their names are possibly mentioned in a few history books, but they are hardly known to most of the common laymen. Unlike the scholars of Islam! They also lived long ago, but they left behind thousands of beneficial writings. Hence, you find their names regularly mentioned by Muslims all over the world. This is one of the clearest proofs of the virtue of knowledge over wealth!
You know your friends and loved ones at difficult times When someone claims to respect, love or value you, Allah reveals the reality at difficult times. The poet said: Friends are many at times of ease but during calamities they are few
Alone Yet the Jamaʿah: Ibn Qayyim mentions; Nuʿaym ibn Ḥammād said regarding 'the Jamaʿah' “It means that if the community becomes corrupt, then hold fast to what the community was upon before it became corrupt - even if you are alone. For in that case, you are the Jamaʿah.” Muḥammad ibn Aslam al-Ṭūsī - an Imam whose leadership was unanimously recognised, despite his rank, was the most devoted to the Sunnah in his time. He said: “No Sunnah reached me from the Messenger of Allah except that I acted upon it. I even strove to perform ṭawāf around the Kaʿbah while riding, but I was not able to do so.” Some scholars of his time were asked about the meaning of “the great majority (al-sawād al-aʿẓam)” mentioned in the ḥadīth: “When people differ, adhere to the great majority.” They replied: “Muḥammad ibn Aslam al-Ṭūsī is the great majority.” [Ibn al-Qayyim:] And they spoke the truth - by Allah. For if an era contains an Imam who knows the Sunnah and calls to it, then he is the proof, he is the consensus, he is the great majority, and he is the path of the believers. Whoever departs from that path and follows another, Allah will entrust him to what he has chosen and cast him into Hell - what an evil destination. - Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. Ighāthat al-Lahfān fī Maṣāyid al-Shayṭān Vol. 1. p. 70.
A friend who loves you for the sake of Allah, teaches you, and guides you to what is good is more valuable than gold. If he sees a mistake in you, he advises and reminds you kindly. Hold on to such a friend. A true friend is not just someone who makes you laugh and entertains you while not caring about your well-being. If you find a brother who sincerely loves you for the sake of Allah, treasure him and keep him close.
Manners are the title of your success or misery. Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله clarified that good manners bring happiness, while poor manners lead to destruction. A student of knowledge must adorn himself with Adab to truly benefit and be raised by Allah. Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak رحمه الله said, "Manners were close to being two-thirds of knowledge." Shaykh Abdur Razzaq Al Badr حفظه الله
The scholar is alive even after his death, as people still benefit from his works. Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn alQayyim, Al Albāni, Ibn uthaymeen رحمهم الله etc. The ignorant, rich or poor, is dead even during his life, as he is of little tangible benefit. Seek knowledge & teach knowledge!
If you don’t memorize the Quran yourself, then who will? And if you are not the reason for honoring your parents & raising their ranks with Allah, then who will do it? And if you are not a practical role model for your children in accompanying this Book of Allah now, then when will you be? Tell me, Wallahi… When will memorizing Quran become one of your top priorities?!
When ‘Abdullah ibn Idris رحمه الله was near his death, his daughter cried. So he said: “Don’t cry, for I have certainly completed the Qur’an 4000 times in this house!” [Siyar A'lam an Nubala: 9/47]
“I move quickly with my emotions, but when I try to think rationally, my head gets tired my mind gets exhausted. I can’t keep analyzing; I can’t continue. That’s why things that weaken the mind like the many short videos people constantly watch affect us so fast. These reels and short clips across different platforms quickly damage the mind. The mind can no longer dive deep for more than five minutes; it just stops. Awareness cannot exist alongside boredom, mental weakness, or shallow thinking. If you want to be truly aware, you must stay away from these things. Take only what you need from them, but addiction to them takes awareness away. You become a purely passive receiver primitive, reactionary, shallow, and not truly aware.” - Shaykh Sāleh Āl al-Shaykh https://t.me/akbar_alathari
A Beautiful Reminder About Kindness and Parents I was listening to a lecture by a noble shaykh. Toward the end, he spoke about the importance of kindness toward others, especially one’s parents, & he recited a verse from the Qur’an: “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them, but address them in terms of honor.” (Surah Al-Isra, 23) After this, the Shaykh shared a touching story about two brothers from Saudi Arabia. The brothers’ father had passed away, and both sons wanted their mother to live with them. Since they lived separately, they could not decide who should take her in. Each brother insisted, “I will keep her.” Because neither was willing to give up the honor of serving their mother, the matter was eventually taken to court. The judge was puzzled. Usually, such cases involve neglect or avoidance but here, both sons were eager to care for their mother. Finally, the judge asked the mother to choose which son she wished to live with. She named one of them. The Shaykh explained that it is natural for parents to feel closer to one child than another. This does not mean they love the other child any less; it is simply part of human nature. He gave an example from the life of the Prophet ﷺ, mentioning that he had a special affection for Aisha (رضي الله عنها) among his wives. Such inclinations, the Shaykh said, are part of how Allah has created human hearts. When the mother made her choice, the son who was not chosen became deeply emotional. He said: “Today, I feel as though everything in the world has been taken away from me. I lost the opportunity to serve my mother. Allah gave me a chance, and I lost it.” The Shaykh then said this did not mean the other brother would prevent him from seeing or serving his mother. Rather, it showed how sincere his heart was how much he valued the blessing of caring for her. The real lesson, the Shaykh said, is that both sons were competing in goodness. Each wanted to draw closer to his mother, honor her, & care for her closely In the end, shaykh reflected on our own society, where many elderly parents are neglected once they become weak or dependent. He contrasted this with societies where Islamic teachings are lived and practiced, where the Qur’an and Sunnah guide family relationships built on respect, mercy, and love. May Allah soften our hearts and grant us the ability to honor our parents while we still can. Ameen https://t.me/akbar_alathari
The lineage of our Prophet ﷺ is: Muhammad ﷺ bin ʿAbdullāh bin ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib bin Hāshim bin ʿAbd Manāf bin Quṣayy bin Kilāb bin Murrah bin Kaʿb bin Luʾayy bin Ghālib bin Fihr bin Mālik bin al-Naḍr bin Kinānah bin Khuzaymah bin Mudrikah bin Ilyās bin Muḍar bin Nizār bin Maʿadd bin ʿAdnān. https://t.me/akbar_alathari
The Arabs in old times used to say: Four things separate brothers: wealth, women, jealousy, and death. Four things make you lose your value among people: talking too much, laughing too much, lying, & gossiping. Four things by which a wife ruins her home: stubbornness, anger, suspicion, and raising her voice. Four things by which a man ruins his home: distance, neglect, harshness, and stinginess. https://t.me/akbar_alathari
Imam Shafi’i رحمه الله said: Conceal your hardship so much so the people presume you are blessed and have an easy life. [Manaqib ash-Shafi, 2/188]
Keep the company of the people of the Qur’an. Through them, you will find support & encouragement in your Hifdh. The path of memorizing the Qur’an becomes so much lighter when you walk with those who are already on it. Find your Qur’an circle. Sit with them. Listen to them. Let their passion ignite yours. I’ve personally seen how quickly someone’s motivation rises simply by being around Huffāz and those striving on this beautiful path. Because not everyone is the same. Some people need that living inspiration around them to keep going and that’s completely okay. So if you are serious about it, get started. Find ways. Don’t wait. Take the first step, and Allah will help you. May Allah make you from the people of Qur'an in this world and the next, grant you excellent Hifdh, and make the Qur'an a proof for you, not against you. Ameen.
The Noble Qur'an contains over 70,000 linguistic terms and 1,000,000 letters. While humans struggle to memorize a 20-page book, millions have mastered all 600+ pages of the Qur'an. This is the miracle of divine easing; Allah guaranteed its preservation in writing and facilitated its journey into the hearts. The fact that 30 parts remain perfectly preserved in the chests of men is the greatest evidence of its ease. - Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Tahiri حفظه الله
What makes a home truly noble? The people of knowledge said: the highest character between a man and his wife comes down to two things: Generosity and The Art of Overlooking. Being "noble" doesn't mean being unaware of mistakes; it means seeing them and choosing to turn a blind eye for the sake of peace. True strength is being firm like a lion outside, but gentle and forbearing within your own walls. A generous heart doesn't interrogate the family over every missing item or minor slip it leads with mercy. Shaykh Abdus-Salam Al-Shuwayer حفظه الله
If you are truthful in your path of seeking knowledge, there's nothing that prevents you from seeking it بإذن الله no matter how busy you are. A truly dedicated seeker of knowledge does not make excuses such as "I don't have free time" or "I cannot concentrate" Etc etc Rather he who desires this knowledge, just as a starving person desires food, will use every small opportunity and take the available resources. Take advantage of everything which will benefit you in sha Allah. In this day and age, we can easily study our religion while we are at home, so there is no excuse for us at all. There are plenty of translated lessons and books of the scholars, so don't let this be a proof against you on the day of judgement. Every individual will be held accountable for how they used their time. We should be encouraged to continuously seek knowledge, as it is a form of worship & a means of getting closer to Allah. May Allah make us sincere and allow us to seek beneficial knowledge for His sake alone.
