  • *Ihyaaud-Deen WhatsApp Broadcast* *The Special Durood of Hazrat Ibnu Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)* عن سيدنا عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما أنه كان يقول: اللهم تقبّل شفاعة محمد الكبرى وارفع درجته العليا وآته سؤله في الآخرة والأولى كما آتيت إبراهيم وموسى (مصنف عبد الرزاق، الرقم: ٣١٠٤، وإسناده جيد قوي صحيح كما في القول البديع صـ ١٢٢) _Hazrat Ibnu Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that when he used to recite Durood upon Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), he would recite it in the following words:_ اَللّٰهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكُبْرٰى وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ الْعُلْيَا وَآتِهِ سُؤْلَهُ فِيْ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُوْلٰى كَمَا آتَيْتَ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰى _O Allah Ta’ala, accept the intercession of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) (i.e. the intercession at the time when all the nations will be in difficulty on the plains of resurrection) and raise him to the highest rank, and grant him what he desires in the Aakhirah and this world, as You granted Ebrahim and Moosa (‘alaihimas salaam)._ *Hazrat Anas bin Nadhr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)’s Love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and his Martyrdom in Uhud* When the Muslims were facing defeat in Uhud, the rumour began spreading that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had been killed. This news caused many of the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) to despair and lose heart. Hazrat Anas bin Nadhr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) happened to see Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) with a group of Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) in a state of utter grief and despondency. He said to them, “Why am I seeing you all so despondent and grieved?” They replied, “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has been slain.” Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) exclaimed, “Then who would like to live after him? Come, let us go forward with our swords and join our beloved, the Messenger (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)!” No sooner did he utter these words than he plunged into the enemy lines and fought bravely till he was martyred. Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had such extreme love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) that he did not consider this life worth living without him. • His hand was placed on the place where the arrow had struck him. Someone moved his hand out from that place, and his wound started bleeding. When the hand was placed back in its position, the bleeding stopped. There was a ring on his finger which had the inscription “الله ربي” (Allah is my Lord). The governor of Yemen informed Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) about this, and he wrote back in reply, “Bury the body back as it was with his finger-ring.” Click on the following link to join our WhatsApp community group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/DBFUEhHg4wfIYqtHzYhqJ7 *Telegram Channel:* https://t.me/ihyaauddeen

  • So, the king ordered some people to take the boy on a boat to the middle of the sea saying, “If he renounces his religion, then well and good, but if he refuses, then drown him in the sea.” So, they took him out to sea, and he made dua to Allah Ta‘ala saying, “O Allah! Save me from them by any means that you wish.” So, Allah Ta‘ala caused them to be drowned in the sea, leaving only the boy alive. The boy then returned to the king and the king said to him, “What has happened to the people I sent with you?” The boy replied, “Allah saved me from them.” Then, the boy said to the king, “You will not be able to kill me unless you do as I instruct you, and if you do as I instruct you, you will be able to kill me.” The king asked him, “How do you instruct me to kill you?” The boy said, “Gather the people in one place and tie me to the trunk of a tree. Then take an arrow from my quiver and say, ‘In the Name of Allah, the Lord of the boy,’ and then shoot the arrow at me. If you do this, you will be able to kill me.” So the king did this, and placing an arrow in the bow, he shot it saying, “In the Name of Allah, the Lord of the boy.” The arrow hit the boy in the temple, and the boy placed his hand over the arrow wound and passed away. Witnessing this, the people proclaimed, “We all bring imaan in the Lord of the boy!” Then it was said to the king, “Do you see what has happened? That which you feared has taken place. By Allah, all the people have brough imaan in the Lord of the boy.” At this, the king was greatly enraged, and after consultation with his cabinet, ordered for deep trenches to be dug and filled with fire. An announcement was then made that the people must renounce their faith in Allah Ta‘ala. If they refuse, they will be thrown into the fiery furnace. Eventually, a woman carrying her infant child was brought to a trench, but she hesitated. Allah Ta‘ala granted speech to her child who said, “O mother! Be steadfast, because you are certainly on the truth!” In this way, many people were burned. According to some reports, about twelve thousand people were burned to ashes, and according to other reports, the number is even more than this. Consequently, Divine wrath descended on the People of the Trench. It is reported that after the believers were killed, Allah Ta‘ala caused the fires to flare up so high and begin to spread wildly throughout the city, until it burned the disbelievers who were responsible for killing the believers. Allah Ta‘ala made it such that the souls of the believers were taken out before the fire could touch them, and they were saved from the torture and torment which the disbelievers tried to inflict upon them. As for the kuffaar, then they were burnt alive and punished by Allah Ta‘ala in this very world. According to some Mufassireen, the words “عَذَابُ الۡحَرِیۡقِ” mentioned in the below verse refers to this worldly punishment of being burnt in the world. Thus, this verse shows the punishment which they received in this world as the punishment that awaits them in the Hereafter. *إِنَّ الَّذينَ فَتَنُوا المُؤمِنينَ وَالمُؤمِنـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَم يَتوبوا فَلَهُم عَذابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُم عَذابُ الحَريقِ ‎﴿١٠﴾‏* _Surely, those who persecuted the believing men and the believing women, then they did not repent - for them is the punishment of Jahannum (hell), and for them is the punishment of the burning fire._ However, according to other Mufassireen, the words “عَذَابُ الۡحَرِیۡقِ” refers to the punishment of the Hereafter. It is reported that the only person who managed to flee from the fire was the kaafir king, Yusuf Zu Nawaas. He ran away and threw himself into the sea to save himself from the raging fire, but Allah Ta‘ala made him drown in the sea. In a narration of Muhammed bin Ishaaq (rahimahullah), it is reported that the place where the boy Abdullah bin Taamir was buried had to be dug up for some important reason during the time of Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). It was found that the body of Abdullah bin Taamir was intact, and he was sitting up.

  • So, the boy complained about this to the monk. The monk said to him, “Whenever you are afraid of the sorcerer, say to him, ‘My family kept me busy,’ and whenever you are afraid of your family, say to them, ‘The sorcerer kept me busy.’” So, the boy carried on like that (for some time). Then a huge lion appeared on the road and the people were unable to pass by due to the lion. The boy said, “Today I shall know whether the sorcerer is better or the monk is better.” So, he took a stone and said, “O Allah! If the deeds and actions of the monk are liked by You better than those of the sorcerer, then kill this creature so that the people can cross (the road).” Then he struck it with a stone killing it and the people were able to pass by on the road. The boy thereafter came to the monk and informed him of what had happened. The monk said to him, “O my son! Today you have surpassed me, and you have achieved what I see! You will be put through tests, and in case you are put through tests, do not inform the people about me.” The boy used to treat the people suffering from blindness, leprosy, and other diseases. There was a courtier of the king who had become blind and he heard about the boy. He came and brought a number of gifts for the boy and said, “All these gifts are for you on the condition that you cure me.” The boy said, “I do not cure anybody; it is only Allah Ta‘ala who cures people. So, if you believe in Allah Ta‘ala and supplicate to Him, He will cure you.” So, the courtier brought imaan in Allah Ta‘ala and supplicated to Him in dua, and Allah Ta‘ala cured him. Later, the courtier came to the king and sat at the place where he used to sit before. The king said to him, “Who gave you back your sight?” The courtier replied, “My Lord.” The king then said to him, “Did I restore your sight?” The courtier said, “No, my Lord and your Lord – Allah Ta‘ala – is the One who restored my sight.” The king said, “Do you have another Lord beside me?” The courtier said, “Yes, your Lord and my Lord is Allah.” The king tortured him and did not stop until he told him about the boy. So, the boy was brought to the king and he said to him, “O boy! Has your magic reached the extent that you are able to cure blindness, leprosy and other diseases?” The boy said, “I do not cure anyone. Only Allah Ta‘ala can cure.” The king said, “Are you referring to me?” The boy replied, “No.” The king asked, “Do you have another Lord besides me?” The boy answered, “My Lord and your Lord is Allah.” So, he tortured him as well until he told the king about the monk. The monk was then brought to the king and the king said to him, “Forsake your religion!” The monk refused and so the king ordered a saw to be brought which was placed in the middle of his head. He was then killed though his head being split with the saw. Thereafter, the king said to his courtier who used to be blind, “Forsake your religion!” He refused to do so, and so a saw was brought and he was killed in the same manner. Then the boy was brought and the king said to him, “Forsake your religion.” He refused, and so the king sent him to the top of a certain mountain with some of his men. The king instructed his men saying, “Ascend the mountain with him till you reach its peak, then see if he abandons his religion. If he does not, then throw him from the top of the mountain.” They took him and when they ascended to the top, he made dua to Allah Ta‘ala saying, “O Allah! Save me from these people by any means that You wish.” So, the mountain began to shake and all the king’s men fell down dying, while the boy remained alive. The boy then returned to the king, safe and sound. The king said to him, “What happened to the men I sent with you?” The boy replied, “Allah saved me from them.”

  • After taking the four oaths upon these four things, Allah Ta‘ala says: *قُتِلَ أَصحـٰبُ الأُخدودِ ‎﴿٤﴾‏ النّارِ ذاتِ الوَقودِ ‎﴿٥﴾‏ إِذ هُم عَلَيها قُعودٌ ‎﴿٦﴾‏ وَهُم عَلىٰ ما يَفعَلونَ بِالمُؤمِنينَ شُهودٌ ‎﴿٧﴾* _Cursed are the people of the trench (containing the) fire that was full of fuel when they were sitting by it, and they were watching what they were doing to the believers._ In this verse, Allah Ta‘ala has cursed the people who dug the trenches and lit fires in them to burn the believers because they had embraced Islam. One might wonder “What is the relationship between the four oaths and the curse of the people of the trench which Allah Ta‘ala mentions in this verse?” The answer is that all these four things which Allah Ta‘ala had taken oaths upon indicate towards the greatness and power of Allah Ta‘ala. In the first verse, Allah Ta‘ala takes an oath upon the magnificent sky which contains the constellations of great stars – all pointing towards the greatness of Allah Ta‘ala. In the second verse, Allah Ta‘ala speaks about the Promised Day, referring to the Day of Qiyaamah. This will be the day when man will see the power of Allah Ta‘ala becoming clear and evident to one and all when Allah Ta‘ala will commence the reckoning and then reward some for their good and punish others for their wrongs. In the third and fourth verses, Allah Ta‘ala takes oaths upon the day of Jumuah and day of Arafah. This also indicates towards the power and greatness of Allah Ta‘ala who granted man these great days to maximise the rewards of their good deeds for the Hereafter. After mentioning these four oaths which all indicate towards the power of Allah Ta‘ala, Allah Ta‘ala says “Cursed are the people of the trench (containing the) fire that was full of fuel”. In this verse, Allah Ta‘ala is showing man His divine power and explaining to us how He will deal with the people of the trench – those who tried to persuade the believers to forsake their deen and imaan by digging trenches and lighting fires in it to burn the believers. *وَما نَقَموا مِنهُم إِلّا أَن يُؤمِنوا بِاللَّهِ العَزيزِ الحَميدِ ‎﴿٨﴾‏ الَّذى لَهُ مُلكُ السَّمـٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَاللَّهُ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَىءٍ شَهيدٌ ‎﴿٩﴾‏ إِنَّ الَّذينَ فَتَنُوا المُؤمِنينَ وَالمُؤمِنـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَم يَتوبوا فَلَهُم عَذابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُم عَذابُ الحَريقِ ‎﴿١٠﴾‏* _And they did not blame them for anything except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, the One Worthy of All Praise, the One to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is witness over everything. Surely, those who persecuted the believing men and the believing women, then they did not repent - for them is the punishment of Jahannum (hell), and for them is the punishment of the burning fire._ In these verses, Allah Ta‘ala indicates towards the dreadful outcome in the Hereafter for those who were guilty of punishing the believers for embracing imaan and worshipping Allah Ta‘ala. The entire incident is mentioned in a Hadith reported by Imaam Muslim (rahimahullah) and Imaam Ahmed (rahimahullah). *The Story of the People of Trench* Among the people who came before you, there was a king who had a sorcerer, and when that sorcerer became old, he said to the king, “I have become old and my time is nearly over, so please send me a boy whom I can teach magic.” So, he sent him a boy named Abdullah bin Taamir and the sorcerer taught him magic. Whenever the boy went to the sorcerer, he sat with a monk who was on the way and listened to his speech and was impressed by his words and teachings. Due to spending time with the monk, he would get delayed, and when he would go to the sorcerer, the sorcerer would punish him for coming late. Similarly, when he would return home, he would again sit with the monk, and on coming home late, his family would punish him for the delay.

Cursed are the people of the trench (containing the) fire that was full of fuel, when they were sitting by it, and they were watching what they were doing to the believers. And they did not blame them for anything except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, the One Worthy of All Praise, the One to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Nay, it is the glorious Qur’aan, (inscribed) in the Lowh-e-Mahfooz (Preserved Tablet)._ *Commentary* This surah is called Surah Burooj. The word “burooj” is the plural of “burj”, which literally means “mansion” or “fortress”. However, in this verse, the word “burooj” refers to the great stars in the sky. This is the view of the majority of the commentators, among whom is Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma), Hazrat Mujaahid, Hazrat Dhahhaak, Hazrat Hasan Basri and Hazrat Qataadah (rahimahumullah). According to other commentators of the Quraan Majeed, the word “burj” refers to the twelve stations of stars that the sun passes by until it completes a one-year cycle. *وَالسَّماءِ ذاتِ البُروجِ ‎﴿١﴾‏ وَاليَومِ المَوعودِ ‎﴿٢﴾‏ وَشاهِدٍ وَمَشهودٍ ‎﴿٣﴾‏* _I take an oath by the sky containing the constellation (of great stars), and by the promised day, and by that which attends and that which is attended._ In these verses, Allah Ta‘ala has taken four oaths upon four things; (1) the first oath is upon the sky which contains the constellations of great stars, (2) the second oath is upon the promised day, (3) the third oath is upon that which attends, (4) and the fourth oath is upon that which is attended. “The promised day” refers to the Day of Judgement and the phrase “that which attends” refers to Friday as it comes every week, and the phrase “that which is attended” refers to the day of Arafah, as all the haajis gather on this day on the plains of Arafah to attend the haj.

  • *Ihyaaud-Deen WhatsApp Broadcast* *The Close Relationship which Hazrat Mu’aaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) Enjoyed with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)* Hazrat Mu’aaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) mentions, “Once, I was seated behind Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) on a donkey while he was riding it. There was nothing between me and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) besides the wood of the saddle (which separates the rider from the person seated behind him). “Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) addressed me saying, ‘O Mu’aaz!’ I replied, ‘I am present in your service, O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).’ “Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) remained silent and continued to ride the animal. After a little while, Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) again addressed me saying, ‘O Mu’aaz!’ I replied, ‘I am present in your service, O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).’ “After a little while had passed, Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) addressed me for the third time saying, ‘O Mu’aaz!’ I replied, ‘I am present in your service, O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).’ “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to me, ‘Do you know what is the right of Allah Ta’ala upon His servants?’ “I replied, ‘Allah and His Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) know best (i.e. I do not know).’ “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, ‘The right of Allah Ta’ala upon His servants is that they should worship Him without ascribing any partners to him (i.e. they should carry out all acts of worship solely for His pleasure and they should remain obedient to Him at all times, while refraining from His disobedience).’ “Thereafter, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) continued to ride the animal and he remained silent for a little while. After a little while had passed, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) again addressed me saying, ‘O Mu’aaz!’ I replied, ‘I am present in your service, O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).’ “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then said to me, ‘Do you know what is the right of the servants upon Allah Ta’ala if they fulfil what He has commanded them to do (i.e. what is the right of the servants upon Allah Ta’ala if they carry out all acts of worship solely for His pleasure and they remain obedient to Him at all times, while refraining from His disobedience)?’ “I replied, ‘Allah and His Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) know best (i.e. I do not know).’ “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then said to me, ‘The right of the servants upon Allah Ta’ala is that Allah Ta’ala does not punish them and that He enters them into Jannah (i.e. if the servants remain obedient to Allah Ta’ala at all times while refraining from His disobedience, then Allah Ta’ala will not punish His servants by entering them into Jahannum but He will bless them with His divine mercy and enter them into Jannah).’” From this incident, we see the close relationship which Hazrat Mu’aaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) enjoyed with Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). The reason for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) remaining silent thrice after addressing Hazrat Muaaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was in order to create the eagerness and desire within him to hear what Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was going to teach him. Since the issue which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) wished to teach him was of great importance and paramount significance, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) adopted this approach when addressing him. We also see the high level of respect and honour which Hazrat Muaaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) showed to Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) when speaking to him. Hazrat Muaaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) responded to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with the same degree of fervour and enthusiasm on all three times that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) addressed him. • *Ihyaaud-Deen WhatsApp Broadcast* *Being grateful to people* Q: When somebody helps us, do we say that Allah has helped us, and the person has no role in helping us? A: We believe that everything happens with the will and help of Allah Ta’ala. Hence, if we receive any good, then we attribute the good to Allah Ta’ala and we thank Him for it. However, together with thanking Allah Ta’ala, we are also commanded to be grateful to the means through which we receive the good. Therefore, we will also express our gratitude to the person whom Allah Ta’ala made the means for us receiving the good. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, "The one who is not grateful to people (for the good he receives from them) is really not grateful to Allah Ta’ala." And Allah Ta'ala knows best. I went to see him and I was wearing a saffron coloured sheet. He asked me, “What is this that you are wearing?” I felt that he did not like my wearing a cloth of that colour. Hence, when I reached home and found a fire burning, I threw my garment into the fire. The next day, when I went to Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), he inquired, “Where is that sheet?” On informing him of what I had done with it, he remarked, “You could have given it to one of the ladies in your house. Women are permitted to wear clothes of that colour.” (Sunan Abi Dawood #4066) Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) was so perturbed at Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)’s displeasure that he did not hesitate to avail of the first opportunity of doing away with the sheet that caused the displeasure. He did not even think of finding any other use for that garment.

  • *Ihyaaud-Deen WhatsApp Broadcast* *The Parting Advice of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to Hazrat Mu’aaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) when Sending him to Yemen* When Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was sending Hazrat Mu’aaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) to Yemen to teach the people deen and to govern over them, then while seeing him off, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) walked with him till the outskirts of Madinah Munawwarah while giving him parting advice. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) commanded him to carry out certain righteous deeds, and he commanded him to refrain from doing certain actions. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to him: “O Mu’aaz! I advise you like how a sincere, compassionate brother advises his brother. I advise you to always fear Allah, to speak the truth, to fulfil your promises, to discharge the trust given to you, to refrain from treachery and deception, to show mercy to the orphans, to safeguard the rights of the neighbour, to restrain your anger, to always be humble, to spread salaam (to those whom you meet), to speak politely, to remain steadfast upon Imaan, to deeply ponder over the Quraan (and follow it correctly), to inculcate the love of the Hereafter (within your heart), to fear the reckoning and accountability (before Allah on the Day of Qiyaamah), to curb your worldly hopes and desires, and to increase doing good deeds.” Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) also said to him, “I forbid you from insulting a Muslim, belying a truthful person, believing the information of a liar, and disobeying a just leader who is appointed over you (i.e. at any time in your life, if someone is appointed over you by the khalifah, then you should obey him). “O Mu’aaz! Remember Allah at every stone and every tree (i.e. while walking on the face of this earth, when you pass by a stone or tree, always remember Allah Ta’ala at every moment). If you commit a sin (out of human weakness), then immediately make amends by making tawbah. If the sin is committed in private, then make tawbah in private, and if the sin is committed in public, then make tawbah in public.” Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) added, “Always visit the sick, hasten in fulfilling the needs of widows and the weak muslims, remain in the company of the poor and needy, treat people with justice even if it pertains with yourself (i.e. even if it relates to your own rights), always speak the truth, and in the cause of Allah, do not be worried about the criticism of any person.” (Hilyatul Awliyaa 1/240) According to another narration, before bidding Hazrat Mu’aaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) farewell, Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said to him, “Perhaps you will not meet me after this year (in other words, this is our last meeting). Perhaps (when you return to Madinah,) you will pass by my musjid or my grave.” Hazrat Mu’aaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) understood this to be a clear indication that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is going to pass away and that there will not be another opportunity for him to see and meet Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) after this. Hearing this, Hazrat Mu’aaz (radhiyallahu anhu) broke down and began weeping out of grief upon the separation of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) did not want to look at his face while he wept, and thus he turned his mubaarak countenance towards the direction of Madinah Munawwarah. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) then consoled him saying, “Indeed, the people who are closest to me are those who have taqwa (i.e. the fear of Allah in their lives), whomsoever they may be and wherever they may be.” (Musnad Ahmad #22052) In other words, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) explained to him that if you hold onto taqwa and my sunnah, then despite living far from me in another land, you will be close to me. On the contrary, if you live close to me (e.g.

  • Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) never forgot the kindness which Mut’im bin Adiyy showed him on that occasion, until a few years later, on the occasion of Badr, when Allah Ta‘ala granted Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) clear victory, and many of the kuffaar leaders were killed and their soldiers taken as captives, then upon seeing the kuffaar captives of war, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “If Mut’im bin Adiyy was alive today and he had interceded to me on behalf of these impure people (referring to the disbelieving prisoners, asking me to release them, then out of consideration for him), I would have certainly released all of them.” (Saheeh Bukhaari #3139) (Sharhuz Zurqaani 2/56-67, Al Bidaayah wan-Nihaayah 3/135, Zaadul Ma’aad, Tabaqaat Ibnu Sa’d) *Revive by practising and sharing* Click on the following link to join our WhatsApp community group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/DBFUEhHg4wfIYqtHzYhqJ7 *Telegram Channel:* https://t.me/ihyaauddeen

So, when they attended it, they said (to each other), “Keep quiet.” Then once it was over, they went back to their people as warners. They said, “O our people, we have heard a book sent down after Nabi Musa (‘alaihis salaam), confirming what was before it, which guides to the truth and to a straight path. O our people, respond to Allah’s messenger, and believe in him, and (once you do that,) Allah will forgive your sins for you, and will save you from a painful punishment. The one who does not respond to Allah’s messenger is not (able) to cause failure (to Allah) in the land, and for him there are no supporters besides Him. Such people are in open error. (Surah Ahqaaf v. 29-32)_ *Returning to Makkah Mukarramah* On the return journey from Taa’if, as Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) came close to Makkah Mukarramah, Hazrat Zaid bin Haarithah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) asked him, “How are you going to enter the city of Makkah when you have been taken out by the people?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “O Zaid! Allah Ta‘ala will certainly make a way out for me from this difficulty, and Allah Ta‘ala is the One who will always support His deen and cause His Nabi to triumph over the enemies.” From this, we see the reliance that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had upon Allah Ta‘ala and the hope of receiving His divine mercy and assistance. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then came to the cave of Hira on the outskirts of Makkah Mukarramah. From the Cave of Hira, he sent a message with Abdullah bin Urayqit to Akhnas bin Shuraiq asking, “Will you grant me amnesty and protection to enter Makkah Mukarramah?” Akhnas responded saying, “I am an ally of the Quraish, hence I cannot grant you amnesty and protection.” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) thereafter sent a message to Suhail bin Amr, asking him for amnesty and protection to enter Makkah Mukarramah. Suhail replied, “My clan – the clan of Banu Aamir - cannot grant you amnesty and protection as we will be opposing the clan of Banu Ka’b of the Quraish.” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then sent a message to Mut’im bin Adiyy asking, “Will you grant me amnesty and protection to enter Makkah Mukarramah?” Mut’im agreed to grant Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) amnesty and protection. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) thus entered Makkah Mukarramah and spent the night at the home of Mut’im bin Adiyy. The following morning, Mut’im together with his sons, who were six or seven in number, armed themselves and went to the Haram with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). On entering the Haram, Mut’im announced, “O people of the Quraish! I have granted amnesty and protection to Muhammed, so no one should interfere with him!” Mut’im then told Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) that he could perform tawaaf. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then kissed the Hajar-e-Aswad, and commenced performing tawaaf of the Ka’bah Shareef, while the sons of Mut’im sat on the mataaf area, carrying their swords. Observing this spectacle, Abu Sufyaan came to Mut’im and asked him, “Have you merely granted him amnesty, or have you followed him in his deen as well?” Mut’im replied, “I have only granted him amnesty. I have not accepted his religion.” Abu Sufyaan responded saying, “In that case, your protection and amnesty will not be violated. We will respect the protection of the one to whom you have given protection.” On completing his tawaaf, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) performed two rakaats of salaah, and then proceeded to his home with Mut’im and his sons escorting him and protecting him.
