It’s rather wondrous, that a nation (or a large part of a nation) annually repents, saying sorry and asking for forgiveness from the LORD and from one another in a series of gatherings from last now and leading up to Rosh Hashanah/Yom Teruah (New Year/Day of the Trumpet) which is on September 13, and culminating on the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur a week later (20th) when they will be asking that their names be signed into God’s Book of Life.

HOODWINKING HUCKABEE In the last 24 hours, I have heard charges of “settler violence” and Jewish “terrorists” coming from two pro-Israel sources, one of them the outspokenly Christian Zionist American ambassador, Mike Huckabee. Predictably, the settler-hating news media — led in Israel by Ha’aretz, YNetNews and the Times of Israel — have seized the story with both hands. It is a boon of grist to their mills that grind tirelessly at deepening their demonising of Israel’s most faithful Jewish communities. I’m not going pussyfoot around this issue by making unnecessary comments about bad apples in the box. Just as with those other carefully-crafted, politically-loaded terms: “Palestinian”, “West Bank”, “Israeli-occupied Arab lands”“Palestinian Territories”, “Genocide”, “Israeli war crimes” and “Jewish settlers”, the new epithet “Settler violence” Is quickly gaining currency. You’ll make up your own minds about this as you read and hear the reports. My counsel is, don’t be deceived, don’t be hoodwinked, and whatever we do as watchmen, don’t be deterred for even a moment from supporting in prayer and action the Jews who — in obedience to the Word of the LORD, have rooted themselves again on the mountains of Israel. God has planted them there.
