12 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी जगातील अनेक भागांत अद्भुत पूर्ण सूर्यग्रहण पाहायला मिळालं. चंद्र सूर्य आणि पृथ्वीच्या मध्ये आल्यामुळे काही भागांत सूर्य पूर्णपणे झाकला गेला. जागतिक स्तरावर ग्रहण भारतीय वेळेनुसार रात्री 9:04 वाजता सुरू झालं, मध्यरात्री 11:16 च्या आसपास पूर्ण ग्रहणाचा टप्पा सुरू झाला आणि कमाल ग्रहण साधारण रात्री 11:16-11:17 वाजता झालं; पहाटे 1:28 वाजता ग्रहण पूर्णपणे संपलं. भारतातून हे ग्रहण दिसलं नाही. पूर्ण सूर्यग्रहणाचा मार्ग ग्रीनलँड, आइसलँड, उत्तर रशिया, स्पेन आणि पोर्तुगालच्या काही भागांतून गेला, तर युरोप, उत्तर अमेरिका आणि उत्तर-पश्चिम आफ्रिकेतील अनेक भागांत आंशिक ग्रहण दिसलं. पूर्ण ग्रहणाच्या वेळी चंद्राने सूर्याचा तेजस्वी भाग झाकल्यामुळे सूर्याचा बाहेरील Corona स्पष्ट दिसला; या ग्रहणाची कमाल Totality सुमारे 2 मिनिटे 16 सेकंद होती.
