  • Christ is King: New book sets out full doctrine using works of Cardinal Pie Stabat Mater Press' new edition of 'The Social Kingship of Christ According to Cardinal Pie' gives comprehensive explanation of why Christ is King: https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/christ-is-king-new-book-sets-out-full-doctrine-using-works-of-cardinal-pie/

  • The Pope is 'not to be publicly contradicted' – Fr Palmieri on the non-infallible magisterium Fr Domenico Palmieri SJ explains that while the 'merely authentic' magisterium may theoretically teach error, its exercise was not to be publicly contradicted even if assent is suspended. Here's why: https://www.wmreview.org/p/palmieri-xxxii-s2

  • Is an extended vacancy of the Holy See possible? Interview at Integrity Magazine In this interview with Stephen Kokx from Integrity, we discussed whether an extended vacancy is possible, and its 'prior probability' as an explanation for the crisis: https://www.wmreview.org/p/is-an-extended-vacancy-of-the-holy

  • Eastern Orthodoxy? St Gregory the Great and the 'Universal Bishop' title (Brownson) In the early Church, the title 'Universal Bishop' was rejected. What does this mean for the Papal claims? https://www.wmreview.org/p/brownson-orthodoxy-2-5

  • 'Stripped of jurisdiction by God' – Fr Palmieri SJ on the Pope Question If Fr Domenico Palmieri SJ is an authority for 'recognise and resist' theology, then why does he hold that a heretical Pope loses office automatically? https://www.wmreview.org/p/palmieri-xxxii-s1

  • Eastern Orthodoxy? 'Orthodox proofs' from Chalcedon undermine their own case (Brownson) What kind of mind appeals to Pope St Leo the Great and the Council of Chalcedon against the papacy? https://www.wmreview.org/p/brownson-orthodoxy-2-4

  • Eastern Orthodoxy? No, Pope Leo the Great is not a witness against papal primacy The 'Orthodox' priest whose work Orestes Brownson is critiquing next tries to claim that Pope St Leo the Great rejected papal primacy. Unsurprisingly, this is false: https://www.wmreview.org/p/brownson-orthodoxy-2-3

Devastating refutation of "sedevacantism". Wow. Maybe time to close up shop. On the other hand: Any daily Novus Ordo attendee who realises the problems and turns to the traditional rite also stops going to the NO. The SSPX historically told everyone not to attend the indult either. "The Indult Mass," it said "is not for traditional Catholics." Someone who concludes sede vacante may also stop attending Mass as often, depending on his circumstances (Where was he before? In the Novus? At the Indult? etc) and his views (Is the una cum a problem for attendees? etc.) There's a danger to each of these steps and realisations. At each point, it's incumbent on the person to take steps to mitigate the danger. But the idea that this – or a half-baked editorialised anecdote related to it (eg: Did he actually lose the faith, or is that just Sensus_Fidelium's editorialising? Who knows?) – is an argument against the vacancy... X 🔗

  • Last week, we visited the Oratory of the Holy Face in Tours, France. Léon Papin-Dupont – declared Venerable by Pope Pius XII – is buried there, as is Sr Marie de Saint-Pierre, whose revelation he helped promote. Ven. Dupont also worked miracles, and was known as "The Apostle of the Holy Face" and "The Holy Man of Tours". You can read more here: https://www.wmreview.org/p/the-work-of-reparation-to-the-holy-face-of-jesus

  • Publican and Pharisee – Tenth Sunday after Pentecost The Parable of the Publican and the Pharisee is of perennial importance for all Catholics: https://www.fathercoleridge.org/p/publican-and-pharisee-tenth-sunday

  • Following on from the "Episcopal Throne" of Tours, a friend sent me this: "On the topic of episcopal thrones, check out this nightmare from St Hedwig's Cathedral in Berlin." Remember, that the dogmatic R&R apologists tell us that we must accept their ideas, and cannot hold Leo XIV to lack authority, because otherwise there would be no successors of the Apostles left. And the men they tell us are the formal successors of the Apostles are the ones who get rid of their thrones and replace them with things like this. Could they be any clearer in telling us that they lack authority? (A vacant Holy See does not in fact necessarily entail there are no formal successors left. See Chapter IV here.)

  • Sean Johnson asked on Substack, regarding the extract from Fr Palmieri (below): "How Do R&R Apologists Respond to this Argument?" The full reply to Mr Johnson's question is linked here: https://substack.com/@sdwright/note/c-305585964

  • 'They miserably deceive themselves who think they can adhere to the Roman See while resisting the Pontiff' – Fr Palmieri SJ Fr Domenico Palmieri SJ directly refutes the 'recognise and resist’ ecclesiology of the Gallicans: https://www.wmreview.org/p/palmieri-xxx-ii

  • This is the "episcopal throne" or "cathedra" in the Cathedral of Tours, France. We are told that Leo XIV etc. must be legitimate Popes, because otherwise there would be no more formal successors to the Apostles. But this "cathedra" is a good example of how these "formal successors" view themselves and their authority. If it was a humble stool or wicker chair, it would be better. It would be fine. But this is a deliberate monstrosity of ugliness, conveying a refusal to BE a successor of the Apostles. So what kind of an argument is this, really?

  • The See and the Seated: Fr Dominic Palmieri SJ against Gallican theology of the Papacy Fr Dominic Palmieri sets the grounds for a devastating refutation of the Gallican conception of the Papacy – and its descendants today: https://www.wmreview.org/p/palmieri-xxx-i

  • Eastern Orthodoxy? Rome did not have primacy merely for being the capital city (Orestes Brownson) The appeal to Constantinople and Chalcedon collapses under Brownson’s scrutiny: https://www.wmreview.org/p/brownson-orthodoxy-2-2

  • Eastern Orthodoxy? Why the sixth canon of Nicæa isn't an argument (Orestes Brownson) Was the Roman Church preeminent just because of the city's civil status? Was St Peter ever its bishop? Brownson shows Orthodox apologist Guettée is grasping at straws. https://www.wmreview.org/p/brownson-orthodoxy-2-1

  • The Final Warning for Jerusalem – Ninth Sunday after Pentecost On entering Jerusalem, Christ lamented that the Holy City would reject him – to its own destruction: https://www.fathercoleridge.org/p/the-final-warning-for-jerusalem-ninth
