Abandoning sins requires patience and striving at the beginning. Once that initial period passes, the soul complies with you! For the heart attaches itself to sins just as an infant attaches to nursing; when they want to wean the child, he cries out and rebels! But they remain patient with him, so he becomes weaned, and if they wanted him to nurse a month later, he would refuse and feel repulsed. Resist during the first days of repentance, for they are the weaning period, and after that, your heart will obey you! — Adham Al-Sharqawi
The best thing a person can be given is a heart that sorrow cannot paralyze from striving. — Adham Al-Sharqawi
If you are on the path to Allah, then run. If it becomes difficult for you, then jog. If you get tired, then walk. If you are unable, then move forward even if you must crawl—but beware of ever turning back! — Imam Al-Shafi'i
'And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers."' [Qur'an Translated Meaning 28:7]. Oh Allah, this certainty that You planted in the heart of the mother of Musa as she cast him into the river—fully trusting that You would return him to her—grant me the likes of it! — Adham Al-Sharqawi
If you love, do not discard your entire intellect, for hearts change; and do not abandon all of your caution, for it happens that people are struck from the very places they felt secure. Those who lit all ten of their fingers like candles for someone later found no finger left even to bite out of sheer regret! — Adham Al-Sharqawi (Messages from the Companions)
"...You know not; perhaps Allah will bring about after that a [different] matter.' [Qur'an Translated Meaning 65:1] Matters constrict for a person until they think there is no way out, but then relief comes from Allah, Glory be to Him. Who would have thought that Hajar, who was running between Safa and Marwa searching for a sip of water, would have Zamzam water gush forth from beneath her son's feet?! Not just for the two of them to drink, but for whole nations to drink from until the Day of Resurrection. That is how Allah changes conditions from one state to another in the blink of an eye. Hardship is short-lived and has no permanence. As Ibnul-Qayyim says: All of us have passed through harsh moments that we thought were the end of the road, yet today, all of it has become mere memories. So do not despair, and trust in your Lord, for the greatest worship is waiting for relief!" — Adham Al-Sharqawi
The clouds of fatigue and exhaustion dissipate upon completing a mission and accomplishing a task. The soul then shines with a passion for more. There is a wondrous relationship that feeds determination and creates happiness, which lazy people do not comprehend. The sweetness of rest that comes after hard work is greater than all the hours of their laziness and idleness, no matter how long they last. True happiness is born from productive rest that harmoniously and continuously drives one's resolve higher. — Dr. Layla Hamdan
Beware of Satan during three states: ◦ During intense anger ◦ During overwhelming joy ◦ And during severe grief For these are wide-open gateways for him to destroy you. Moderation in emotions is essential, and if it becomes difficult, then safeguarding oneself through supplications, words of remembrance, and the companionship of the Qur'an is a source of understanding, insight, and salvation. — Dr. Layla Hamdan
Your maturity, your awareness, your vigilance, your excellent comprehension of what is happening around you, your striving in various fields, and your race to benefit Muslims anywhere and everywhere—all of this reflects on the image of the entire Ummah. So be generous, chivalrous, noble, and heroic, because you represent a great Ummah that knows neither idleness nor defeat. They will all remember us with respect one day—be certain of that. — Dr. Layla Hamdan
If faith settles in the heart, it beats with the very pinnacle of the matter [Jihad]. Faith and humiliation can never coexist in a believer's heart. A believer is either propelled by their faith to manifest strength and dignity on earth, whether it takes a long time or a short time, or they die of heartbreak if they are rendered helpless by trials, plots, and obstacles. The ultimate end of a believer is to live with their dignity or to die with their dignity—there is absolutely no third option. — Dr. Layla Hamdan
The Subtext of Modernization Whoever tells you that we must develop and modernize the rulings of Islam to fit contemporary taste carries an implicit meaning within their statement that they hide: which is that they believe contemporary taste is superior to the rulings of Divine Revelation! —The Authority of the Dominant Culture
The Horsemanship of Faith Whenever your soul calls you toward laziness, complaining, or frustration, place this text right before your eyes and declare the greatness of Allah with great takbeer (saying: Allah is Greater)! Ibnul-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Al-Furusiyyah: 'The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, combined the horsemanship of steeds with the horsemanship of faith, certainty, and competing for martyrdom, sacrificing their souls out of love for Allah and for His pleasure. Thus, no nation could withstand them, and they never fought a nation except that they overcame it.' How excellent they were! Allah, make us among those who follow them in righteousness and gather us with them in the best state; may Allah be pleased with them and satisfy them. — Dr. Layla Hamdan
The True Reality of Supplication The meaning of supplication (Dua) is a servant's request for their Lord’s care and their seeking of His assistance. Its true essence is the manifestation of complete neediness before Him, and the disavowal of one's own power and strength. It is the hallmark of servitude and the inner realization of human humility. Within it lies the meaning of praising Allah and attributing absolute generosity and kindness to Him. For this reason, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Supplication is worship itself.'" — Imam Al-Khattabi
The Wisdom of Divine Delay "And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy and because Allah is Accepting of repentance and Wise" (Qur'an Translated Meaning 24:10) The Almighty says that if it were not for the favor of Allah upon you, mankind, and His mercy toward you, and that Allah repeatedly turns to His creation with His gentleness and bounty, and is Wise in His management and governance of them—He would have hastened your punishment for your disobedience and exposed those of you who commit sins because of their transgressions. However, He concealed your sins and refrained from exposing you immediately out of His mercy toward you and His favor upon you. Therefore, be grateful for His blessings and cease engaging in the acts of disobedience that He has forbidden you from approaching. — Imam Al-Tabari
If you are granted vigilance, protect it in an isolated place from the stealing hands of socialization. Beware of interacting with frivolous people; their nature is a thief. Do not ever befriend a disobedient nor put your trust in them, for whoever betrays The One who bestows blessings upon them doesn’t become loyal to you. Pleasing Others: Most people are only destroyed by the fear of criticism and love for praise. Hence, all their actions become compliant with what pleases other people yearning for approval and dreading criticism. That behavior is one of the destroying sins; it has to be cured. Ibn Qudamah, Mukhtasar Minhaj Al-Qasiden Follow us: t.me/MuslimTranslators
A Stolen Lifetime: Do you know how one’s lifetime is stolen? They abandon their day in anticipation of tomorrow. They stay in that state till their time ends with hands empty of any good. Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ghazali Follow us: t.me/MuslimTranslators
.... The fragility of souls and the outcome of relying on a powerless and mortal creature: Allah gives a parable that reveals the weakness of the idols and the misguidance of their worshippers by saying, "mankind, a parable has been set forth, so listen to it: indeed, those whom you call upon apart from Allah shall never create a fly, even if they were to band together for that purpose". If creating the weakest insect proves impossible for them, lacking even the power to retrieve whatever that insect would snatch from them, how could anyone await any benefit or dread any harm from those idols? Therefore, Allah followed with: Weak are the pursuer = the worshipper, and the pursued = whatever is worshipped apart from Allah. Know that the true liberation is by not allowing any weak mortal creature, that does not possess neither benefit nor harm for themselves, to enslave you. The rule of thumb is: the standing of the pursuer emanates from the standing of the pursued. Whoever pursues dignity and power in ephemeral wealth, in ever-changing prestige or in pleasing a mortal human being becomes weak due to the weakness of their goal. In contrast, whoever pursues dignity and power from The Almighty acquires unwavering certainty that empowers him to face calamities and the loss of beloved ones with great spiritual cohesion. That's because they rely on unshakeable support, which does not vanish nor debilitate. Ghiras Al-Ilm Follow us: t.me/MuslimTranslators
The True Liberation: "Mankind, a parable has been set forth, so listen to it: indeed, those whom you call upon apart from Allah shall never create a fly, even if they were to band together for that purpose; and if a fly snatches anything from them, they cannot recover it from it. Weak are the pursuer and the pursued." (Qura'n translated meaning 22:73) Continued .... 👇
How the Qur’an was perceived We cannot find in the language of contemporary Arabs about the revelation of the Qur’an a specific description of this artistic beauty, which they sometimes called poetry and sometimes magic, despite being able to discern how it has affected them by its influence. They were enthralled by it, believers and disbelievers alike: Some are enthralled thus believe, and some are enthralled thus flee. Then both speak of what has touched them, and it is an obscure speech that gives you no more than the image of the bewildered enchanted one, who does not know the place of the magic in what he hears of this wondrous poetry, even though he feels this strange effect deep within him.
