And the selection of these wazā'if and ritual parts of religion by many women contains a subtle deception of the ego: namely, that because of them, one receives a great deal of public reverence and respect, and the common people begin to consider one a saintly elder. Therefore, the ego is pleased with this. But honoring, respecting, and obeying the husband goes against the ego, and therefore it is avoided. Al-Mawardi clearly states that its not permissible for any ruler after the Prophet (ﷺ) to stipulate in their truce the return of a Muslim to Darul Kufr. He says it was permissible for the Prophet (ﷺ), because it was promised by Allah that the land would be conquered. The slight disagreement arose mainly from the Shafi'is, but there is no dispute among them or any of the Muslims, that if a treaty stipulates that they are to be returned in any of the rulers land, then the treaty is invalid, as stated by Ibn al-Rif'ah.
