The findings completely expose the hidden flaws in automated systems. Every single model exhibited gender sensitivity. Between 10% and 35% of statements received completely inconsistent truth labels across the different gender variants solely because of how the speaker was presented. When researchers compared Male and Female variants, flip rates hit up to 23.6%. The AI changed its mind on whether a statement was true or false based entirely on the gender of the person who said it. Two primary bias patterns emerged: • Instability: Wildly inconsistent judgments on identical facts. • Directionality: Systematic favoritism. The strongest directional effects revealed a clear "male-skeptic" pattern. When identical claims were attributed to male personas, the models were systematically harsher, more skeptical, and quicker to flag statements as misinformation compared to neutral or female variants. AI is rapidly being deployed to automate content moderation, compliance, and fact-checking at scale. If the underlying engine is quietly biased against specific demographic groups, you aren't deploying objective code. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2451958824001660

Researchers proved every major LLM is secretly biased against men. And they finally figured out why. They tested a 13 of the most popular LLMs and found that they exhibit a statistically significant, negative sentiment toward men in various contexts. They ran an experiment by taking statements and altering only the speaker's gender presentation (Neutral, Male, or Female). The goal was to test whether an AI’s judgment changes based solely on gender.

  • “Depression is not a “disorder” that can be separated from the context in which people live. Feeling depressed is a human response to circumstances the person may feel are intolerable, can be related to loss, a reaction to trauma & indicative of genuine circumstances that are dispiriting (like poverty, violence, illness, others pain, loss of freedom) It’s still hard to believe it’s spoken about as a biochemical problem requiring a drug and treated as such.” Dr Roger McFillin

  • Before the 90s, most people didn't think depression came from your brain. When drug companies ran market research, they asked the public what caused depression. People said unemployment. Divorce. Having been abused as a child. Almost no one pointed to a chemical imbalance in the brain. Then Big Pharma went to work. "The pharmaceutical industry set out very deliberately to change people's minds and to persuade people instead that depression is a biological condition and needs a biological remedy, i.e. the drugs that they were promoting." That's psychiatrist Dr. Joanna Moncrieff, who dug the campaign out of the archives. It was called Defeat Depression, run by medical organisations and often funded by drug companies. The aim was to convince you it's medical, then send you to your doctor for the pill. "This was a marketing campaign."

  • The same concern applies to the use of fetal tissue in research and commercial applications. We should never allow the bodies of unborn or newborn children to become commodities simply because there is money to be made from them. A society that is increasingly willing to treat human life and human bodies as raw materials should make us stop and think.

  • Baby Boys’ Foreskin used for Celebrities Face Cream! The cosmetic industry isn’t just about profit. It also shows how easily ethical boundaries can be pushed aside when there is money to be made. Some skincare products have used human fibroblast cells derived from neonatal foreskin tissue, including tissue from baby boys. The foreskin itself isn’t simply put into the face cream, but human tissue has nevertheless been used in developing cosmetic products. Think about that for a moment. Why should the body of a baby boy become a source of commercial value for the beauty industry? And this raises an even bigger question about where we draw the line. When the pursuit of beauty becomes so important that human tissue can be turned into a luxury skincare ingredient, perhaps we need to stop and ask what our culture has become comfortable with.

  • So I’m leading salatul al-kusuf- two rakʿahs. In the first rakat, after fatiha, I read around four-five pages from al-Baqarah. Everything is going well. Then, in the second rakat, I start the recitation and, halfway through, I think I’ve made a mistake. Without even giving me a moment to correct myself, someone from right at the back tries to correct me, then someone else, and then someone else. My heart starts racing, and from that point on I make a couple more mistakes. 😅 Eventually, I get through it (just about)- but recited less (1 page!) then what I wanted in the second Rakat. But boy, folks… give imams a break, man. We’re human beings! 🫤

  • A review of 58 studies on universal school-based mental health programs was done. Not a single researcher apparently felt it was worth including whether the program was harmful as a planned outcome measure for the study to evaluate. Harms were found anyway! Among them? Worse mental health, more rumination, worse emotional dysregulation, lower emotional awareness, lower quality of life, and… LASTING NEGATIVE EFFECTS on mother-child and father-child relationships at a six-month follow-up. 🚨 universal school-based mental health programs are BAD mental health policy and BAD family policy.

  • If 'mental disorders' really were 'just like' other medical disorders, we might prescribe psychoanalysis for arthritis or counselling for an infection. The fact that this sounds absurd tells us all we need to know: psychological distress is of a different category.

No Chemical Imbalance? Tom Cruise Said It First! Back in 2005, Tom Cruise was mocked for calling out psychiatry and saying there’s no such thing as a chemical imbalance. But nearly 20 years later, it turns out he was absolutely right. Antidepressants don’t correct any proven chemical imbalance—they mask symptoms and can make people worse over time. Yet, for years, doctors have sold these drugs to people under the false pretense that they’re "fixing" something in the brain.

  • "Concept Creep and the Mental Health Crisis" By Nick Haslam of the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria, Australia "Many explanations have been offered for the rising prevalence of mental health complaints. I present an account that attributes some of this increase to historical changes in mental health-related concepts that are propelled by broad cultural trends. I argue that rising attention to harm, coupled with the pervasive influence of the mental health industry, has led to concepts of mental health and illness becoming increasingly expansive. This process of 'concept creep' promotes the adoption of diagnostic identities and a tendency to over-pathologize experience and behavior. These trends not only increase the number of people who are identified as having mental health problems and seek treatment for them but may also worsen mental health through a range of self-fulfilling and iatrogenic processes. I review research that demonstrates the semantic inflation of mental health-related concepts and the potential adverse implications of broad concepts. I conclude by proposing steps that policymakers should consider in response." https://spssi.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/sipr.70007?ref=compactmag.com
