🔴 How many more before the world rises up and demands justice? 📍How many more people must be arbitrarily detained, tortured, or subjected to abuse in Syrian government prisons before the world rises up and demands justice? 📍Human Rights Watch reports that Syria’s current transitional authorities carried out arbitrary detentions during 2025, alongside reports of torture, ill treatment, and deaths in custody. The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented at least 122 cases of arbitrary arrest and detention by Syrian government forces during the first three months of 2026. The organization states that this is a minimum figure based only on cases it was able to document and verify. 📍A change of government does not make torture acceptable. The victims of abuses committed by the current authorities deserve the same solidarity, protection, and justice demanded for the victims of the former regime. 📍The Syrian government must disclose who is being held and where, allow independent monitors into every detention facility, release everyone held arbitrarily, investigate every credible allegation of torture and abuse, and hold those responsible to account. 📍The world must not wait for more victims and more grieving families before acting.
