What common ground could we possibly share with Yahweh to be called His friends? "As high as the heavens are above the earth," the distance between us was vast. Because of our offences, we weren’t just far, we were enemies of God, separated from being in his love. Yet, at the cross, we see the God-man stepping into our lostness, cut off from God as he stood before creation in our place. He bore the weight of God’s wrath so we might have peace with God. He became like us– even the very worst of us. The Son of God took our sorrow and cried, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Our Redeemer, a man of sorrows, who knew grief, betrayed with a kiss, abandoned by those closest to him and condemned though innocent— He walked in our shoes. He walked that road so He could meet us in ours. There is no station of our life, no experience we go through, that His journey to cross didn’t touch. As the Scripture says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” Because He laid down His life for us, His friends, we are now reconciled with God. In Christ alone, we are now called friends of God. Amen! #crucifixion #resurrection #easter @coffeetalktable
