Hello DVC! Blessed Solemnity of St Ignatius of Loyola! Let us spend a moment, to be grateful for the friendship and example of a saint who strived ardently to imitate Christ. Even in his shortcomings and weaknesses, he would persistently beg for the grace to imitate Christ in all things! As DVC, our name De Vita Christi (The Life of Christ), is the title of the book St Ignatius read that led to his conversion. Let us ask St Ignatius to intercede for DVC, that we may be faithful in imitating Christ, so that all of us and those we meet, may encounter the life of Christ, living and breathing, and experience conversion. Hello DVC! ❤️‍🔥 Many of you might have seen our dear Br Melvin around 👋! He is a 7th year diocesan seminarian who is discerning and training to be a Diocesan Priest! Here is his vocation story! 🫶🫶🫶 There is going to be a diocesan vocation retreat for men, aged 21-35 years old. This will be happening on 14 August 2026, 7pm - 16 August 2026, 3pm. The retreat will be held at St Francis Xavier Major Seminary (618 Upper Bukit Timah Road). Sign ups close this Friday, 31 July 2026! Hello DVC! This is an update regarding World Youth Day 2027 (WYD27) in Seoul. In previous World Youth Days, DVC would organise a contingent to participate in MAGIS - an Ignatian pre-WYD experience - and we would then continue on to WYD together. While our MAGIS participation was coordinated through DVC, it was always a Jesuit programme centred on Ignatian spirituality. From this year onwards, the Jesuits have decided to take direct ownership of MAGIS and re-focus it in line with the Jesuit Superior General's vision of MAGIS as a more intentional journey of Ignatian formation for young people. As part of this, MAGIS will no longer be offered as a standalone pre-WYD programme. Instead, it will form part of Via Ignis, a longer-term formation journey organised by the Jesuits. Consequently, participation in MAGIS-WYD will be reserved for those who are part of the Via Ignis programme, and will no longer be organised through DVC or the Youth Office. (For those who may have missed it, Via Ignis was launched earlier this year, and registrations have since closed for the current round. Thank you to everyone who prayerfully discerned and committed to the journey!) Relatedly, we also wanted to announce that DVC/Youth Office will not be organising a DVC contingent for WYD27. Given that the Youth Office team is new, we would like to focus on the flourishing and formation of the youths in DVC. Recognising our capacity, we have agreed that organising a contingent would spread us too thin and take us away from our focus. However, we also recognise that World Youth Day has been very formative and helpful for many, particularly in witnessing and living with the universal Church! If you are not part of Via Ignis but would still like to experience WYD, you can: * Contact the YO to locate other contingents to join for WYD * If you are willing to organise a contingent for our parish, we are also happy to support in terms of providing information and direction - but will not be able to help in organising the contingent. Please be advised that the age limit for WYD is 18-35. If you have any questions about this message or WYD27 in general, feel free to approach Ryan (@ryanignatiuskoh) or Dom (@domdomdomki)!
