However, most women say it’s not the prize they compete for, but rather just spending time with family. The prisoners’ relatives are invited to the competition. And every meeting gives the inmates hope. For example, Rosana Gonsalves. She hasn’t won, but she can’t hold back her tears of joy as her 5 children come to see her. Before being sent to prison, Rosana was a drug addict and worked as a call girl as she says it was the only way to earn money to provide for her kids. Most people say you should hide from FPV drones, but members of the ‘Terek’ Brigade would disagree. These fighters have completed the ‘Last Line’ smoothbore firearm training course and now know how to fight by the new rules. They practice shooting down targets that simulate FPV drones at the training ground. They also learn to blast them out of the sky from the bed of a moving pickup truck. The trainees are taught by experienced instructors, including Russian practical shooting champion Anna Tolstousova. The programme’s goal is to teach soldiers how to effectively counter drones on the battlefield.
