BREAKING: Five Injured In Virginia State University Shooting; Multiple Gunmen Sought WASHINGTON (Worthy News-Telegram)—Five people were injured, one critically, in a shooting involving multiple gunmen at Virginia State University early Saturday, authorities said, a day after six people, including a suspected shooter, died in separate shootings in Michigan. Officers reportedly responded at about 1:28 a.m. local time to reports of gunfire near the Quad Annexes, a residential area on the Virginia State University (VSU) campus, where they found five people suffering from gunshot wounds outside residence halls. All five were taken to hospitals, with one listed in critical condition while the other four suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, university officials said. Investigators said they believed more than one shooter was involved, but no arrests had been announced by Saturday afternoon.

BREAKING: Scores Killed As Strong Earthquake Hits Indonesia’s Flores Island; Tsunami Warning Issued (Live) MEDAN/MAUMERE (Worthy News-Telegram)—Scores of people have been killed after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Flores Island early Saturday, authorities said, as rescuers struggled to reach some of the hardest-hit areas, while a less powerful tremor was reported in North Sumatra province. Authorities put the preliminary death toll at 47 or more, with dozens injured and fears that more victims could be trapped beneath collapsed buildings as search-and-rescue operations continued. Buildings in the region have been damaged by the quake and the dozens of aftershocks that followed. The quake shook Flores shortly before 05:00 local time on Saturday and had a a depth of 15 kilometers (nearly 10 miles), Indonesia's meteorology and geophysics agency said. A tsunami warning was given after the initial quake, which was followed by at least two aftershocks. Dramatic footage reviewed by Worthy News showed people rushing for cover while others fell in the water at a Flores port. Video taken at the port in Maumere showed large chunks of concrete breaking off the terminal building onto passengers waiting to board an inter-island ferry. Some were thrown into the sea when the gangway to a ship collapsed, as witnesses reacted in shock. Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, governor of East Nusa Tenggara province, told a news conference that some were killed in their sleep by collapsing rubble. Arnold Welianto, who lives in Talibura, a village near the coastline in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara, said he was awoken by the "very strong shaking", adding: "I was startled awake and immediately went to my child's room."
