قال ابن بطال: لا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ أن يكون مَهْمُومًا بشيء من أمور الدُّنْيَا؛ فإن الله تعالى قد قَدَّرَ الأمور فَأَحْكَمَهَا، وقدّر الْأَرْزَاقَ، فلا يَجْلِبُ الْهَمُّ للعبد في الدنيا خيرًا، ولا يَأْتِيهِ بما لم يقدر له، وفي طول الهم قلة رِضًا بقدر الله. وقد كان عمر بن عبدالعزيز يقول: "اللهم رضني بِالْقَضَاءِ، وَحَبِّبْ إليّ القدر؛ حتى لا أحب تَقْدِيمَ ما أَخَّرْتَ ولا تأخير ما قدّمت". ومن آمن بالقدر؛ فلا ينبغي له أن يَهْتَمَّ على شيء فاته من الدنيا ولا يتهم ربّه، ففيما قضى له الْخِيَرَةُ. وإنما ينبغي للعبد الاهتمام بأمر الآخرة، وأن يفكر في مَعَادِهِ وعرضه على ربه، وكيف ينجو من سؤاله عن الْفَتِيلِ وَالْقِطْمِيرِ؟!
