Regime airstrike kills family of eight in Rakhine’s Gwa township August 14, 2026 A regime airstrike in Rakhine’s Gwa Township on Thursday killed a family of eight, including children, according to local reports. Two boys—a seven-year-old and a 12-year-old—and four women were among the dead after a fighter jet bombed Gwa’s Kyeintali town at 10 pm, the Arakan Army (AA) stated. The airstrike also destroyed five homes and one tuk-tuk. The regime also bombed nearby Kaingkhon village but no casualties were reported. The AA seized Gwa Township in 2024 and controls 14 of Rakhine’s 17 townships, as well as Paletwa Township in neighboring Chin State. Daily regime airstrikes across Rakhine State this week alone (August 9 to 13) have killed 27 civilians and injured 32, according to the AA. /AA Info Desk #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

EU boosts Myanmar aid to €49.1m as emergency deepens August 14, 2026 The European Union has announced an additional €10.5 million in humanitarian aid for people affected by conflict and disasters in Myanmar, bringing total EU support in 2026 to €49.1 million (US$ 56.72 million). The assistance consists of emergency healthcare, food, protection, shelters, as well as water and sanitation equipment for people affected by conflict, displacement and disasters, including ongoing floods across the country. Noting that more than 100,000 lives have been lost since the 2021 military coup, the EU stated that an estimated 16.2 million people now need urgent assistance — making Myanmar one of the world’s largest humanitarian emergencies. As other donors international retreat, the EU pledged to continue providing principled aid that reaches those most in need. (Photo:EU) #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

AA says it fends off regime forces attacking Rakhine from Ayeyarwady August 14, 2026 The Arakan Army said Thursday its forces had repulsed Myanmar regime troops advancing on the Rakhine-Ayeyarwady border, in fierce clashes. The ethnic armed group claimed fighting erupted in five locations in Ayeyarwady’s Yegyi and Thabaung townships, beginning at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, with troops from the regime’s Light Infantry Division 66 suffering heavy casualties and losing large numbers of weapons in the face of the AA’s defensive and counteroffensive attacks. It said the regime launched multiple aerial and artillery attacks in support of its ground forces. The group said the Myanmar military has been trying to penetrate Rakhine State from neighboring regions and states for nearly two years. The AA has captured 14 of Rakhine’s 17 townships and one in southern Chin, while expanding its operations into Ayeyarwady, Magwe and Bago regions as well as Chin State with the help of local allies.
