  • Zelensky’s ‘National Pantheon’ Project Honors Another Nazi Collaborator Yevhen Konovalets remains had been exhumed in the Netherlands two days ago. He will join his own follower, Andriy Melnyk–Ukraine’s highest-level collaborator with Adolf Hitler–for state honors in Ukraine’s National Military Memorial Cemetery. According to New Ukraine, the “exact date of the ceremony has not been disclosed for security reasons.” Konovalets had a working relationship with the Nazis from no later than their 1933 takeover. In 1934, Konovalets had called the Jews, “indisputably if not greater, then at least comparable, foes of our rebirth,” compared to the Russians and the Poles. He was assassinated by a Russian agent in 1938, reportedly in retaliation for the 1933 assassination of a Russian diplomat at their consulate in Lviv. However, in 1937, he had also been plotting with the Japanese on a war against Russia. The exhumation and state honors for the first two Nazi collaborators are part of what is to be the new ‘National Pantheon’ project of Ukraine’s acting president, Volodymyr Zelensky. In May, Zelensky had announced his special project, the “return to our land, to our independent sovereign state… of those who fought for Ukraine, who wanted Ukraine independence. But times were different, and opportunities were different. Our Ukrainian heroes of different times, who… are buried in Europe, in America, in different countries. We are returning them.” Zelensky said that he was talking about iconic figures of the 20th century, “strong historical figures”—and then identified only two: Melnyk and Konovalets. Then, in June, when he submitted legislation for his ‘National Pantheon,’ he declared: “This is what it means for Ukraine to respect itself, to cherish its own, and to defend what is rightfully ours—our fundamental right to be Ukrainians.” And, to add insult to injury, the bill stipulates that the National Pantheon would be built on the grounds of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, built in 1051. Zelensky recently kicked the monks out of the monastery and seized the holy site—apparently now to accommodate Hitler’s Ukrainian collaborators. 🌒@EastCalling

  • An Uncommon Man - film If this man had become President, rather than Harry Truman, the last 80+ years would have been dramatically different. Get some popcorn and watch these videos (including the one linked below). This was a different America Henry A. Wallace was a brilliant farmer, scientist, writer and public servant whose views on race, poverty and peace put him far ahead of his time. Born into a family of prominent Iowa farmers, Henry Wallace founded the world's first hybrid seed company, Pioneer, that catalyzed a Green Revolution in agriculture. Wallace also served as Agriculture Secretary and Vice President under President Franklin D. Roosevelt during some of the most difficult times in American history: the Great Depression and World War II. Few people know that Wallace was the overwhelming choice of delegates to the 1944 Democratic National Convention to once again be Vice President. But party bosses, encouraged by Southern conservatives, made sure that didn't happen. Directed by Joan D. Murray. Produced by Sandy Cannon-Brown. Wallace redefined the role of Vice President, taking on genuine leadership in the Roosevelt Administration’s preparations for World War II. But his time as Vice President is perhaps best remembered for the ideals he championed in his most celebrated speech. In 1942, in the middle of World War Two, he rejected Life Magazine publisher Henry Luce’s famous call for an “American Century” and other calls for America’s domination of the postwar world. Instead, Wallace urged that “the century on which we are entering can and must be the century of the common man.” He warned against unfettered free enterprise and “international cartels that serve American greed” and said they “must be subjected to international control for the common man, as well as being under adequate control by the respective home governments.” To Luce’s notion of American exceptionalism, he declared: “There can be no privileged peoples. We ourselves in the United States are no more a master race than the Nazis.” Here is his most famous speech "Common Man" https://wgf.org/timeline/vice-president-wallace-and-the-century-of-the-common-man/ 🌒@EastCalling

  • The Iranian Foreign Ministry quoted Dostoevsky, accusing US policy of an "extreme dependence on lies." "This excerpt from Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov aptly describes the situation in which the US governance system and foreign policy toward Iran and the region have found themselves due to their extreme dependence on 'lies': 'The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others,'" the statement reads. • Japanese are hysterical about Putin visiting Kuril islands. 📍Japan refers to the islands as the "northern territories" or the "four northern islands." The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Southern Kuril Islands became part of the Russian Federation on legitimate grounds after World War II, and Russian sovereignty over them is indisputable. Putin has stated that Japan has territorial claims against Russia regarding the Kuril Islands, but that the resolution of this issue is enshrined in international documents as a reality. 🌒@EastCalling

  • Putin did a brief walkabout in Novosibirsk today, stopping his motorcade on the way to the airport to greet a group of young people gathered on the street. He’s been visiting a number of Siberian cities over the past couple of weeks, including Irkutsk and Ulan Ude, ahead of next month’s parliamentary elections. It follows a fairly long period where he mostly only travelled between Moscow and St Petersburg, except for a few events where foreign leaders were present.

  • Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev - Deputy head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on his Telegram channel: 🈁Western European hounds are barking hysterically about the so-called Russian shadow fleet. Let’s break down what this is actually about. By this, they mean ordinary merchant ships that fly non-Russian flags but carry out shipping operations in our interests. Such a flag is usually called a "flag of convenience" or a "favorable flag." This is a system where a vessel is registered in a country different from the owner's country in order to save on taxes and regulations. These include Panama, Liberia, the Marshall Islands, the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Malta, and the Seychelles. Of course, European dogs have absolutely no right to detain such vessels, neither under the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea nor under national legislation. This is pure arbitrariness. But this leads to one important conclusion: the absolute majority of Western European vessels also fly flags of convenience. And what does that mean? It means that, guided by a symmetrical approach (which is fair), Russia has the right to attack any merchant vessel of hostile countries located in both our and neutral waters, provided there is sufficient suspicion that it is transporting cargo in the interest of the enemy. That means any cargo! And there are very many such vessels. Our Armed Forces are capable of drastically expanding operations beyond the borders of the Black Sea basin! This is exactly what the Commander of the Pacific Fleet reported today to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. ➖➖➖➖ 🌒@EastCalling

  • Maria Vladimirovna Zakharova on her official Telegram channel writes: 🈁Two former Axis powers have, in July, simultaneously reverted to practices from which they were forcibly dissuaded in 1945. The German Bundestag has passed a new law on the federal police – its most significant reform since 1994. The federal police have been granted the following new powers: real-time facial recognition in train stations and airports, AI-powered analysis of crowd behavior, document checks without any reasonable suspicion, telephone wiretapping, and the use of drones. Europe's largest internet association (ECO) has called the law a "precursor to digital mass surveillance." The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has warned that the law directly contradicts German law, which requires the government to refrain from biometric surveillance. The post-war legal system of the Federal Republic of Germany was built on the principle of a strict separation between the police and intelligence services – precisely because Germans had firsthand experience of what happens when the police become an intelligence agency. That separation has now been dismantled. The publication The Berliner writes: "These reforms undermine constitutional guarantees shaped by historical memories of surveillance under the Nazi regime and the Stasi." German media has previously used even stronger language: "Germany has not seen such a surveillance apparatus since the Nazi regime. The Stasi of East Germany, with its files and neighborhood informers, looks amateurish in comparison." Their former allies in Japan are facing a similar scandal. The newspaper Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun revealed that a field intelligence unit of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, based at a camp near Tokyo, has been monitoring its own citizens for years. A special unit of approximately 50-60 people was compiling personal files on Japanese citizens. These files – known as "individual BSDs" (basic source data) – contained names, photographs, personal information, family details, and financial information. There was also a section on "attitudes towards Japan and the Self-Defense Forces." Previously, Japanese courts had ruled that such activities were illegal. At that time, the military was essentially assessing the loyalty of citizens. Now, Japan is moving to the next step – a counter-espionage law that, according to reports, will require the registration of individuals funded by foreign governments and allow for widespread, warrantless surveillance of the population. The last time the Japanese military compiled files on the loyalty of citizens was under Emperor Hirohito. Then, the Secret Higher Police – the Tokko – monitored, arrested, and tortured people for their political beliefs. 81 years after the collapse of the previous regimes, Berlin and Tokyo are acting in concert. The post-war internal order of the defeated aggressors was based on the principle of avoiding mass surveillance of their own populations, which was one of the key methods used by the Nazis during the Holocaust, genocide, and horrific experiments on people. The last comparable apparatuses of violence were known as the Gestapo and the Tokko. These are not my comparisons; they are made by Germans and Japanese themselves – by their experts and the press. Both Tokyo and Berlin are ignoring them. The Axis is stirring. ➖➖➖➖ 🌒@EastCalling
